Introduction: Read Text and Pray.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Story about farmer and the little sparrow. Farmer was enjoying his warm fire when he kept hearing this sound. This little sparrow trying to come in. Opened the front door. That didn’t work. He went outside. That didn’t work. Said to himself, If only I could make myself a bird then I could show him the way. Beloved this is the story of Christmas!
Tonight we are remind of the truth of Jesus coming into the world:
of all the places Jesus could have been born he was born in a manager.
Jesus is the King of kings yet he was not born in a palace!
Jesus is our Great High Priest yet he was not born in the temple!
When Jesus lowered himself he lowered himself all the way down!
Why?? So that you and I will not only see truth but also grace!!
Jesus was not born in a king’s palace yet through the grace of our new birth he has made us kings and co-heirs of his throne!
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Jesus was not born in the temple yet through the grace of our new birth he made a way for all people to have access to God the Father!
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
So tonight we want to Remember and Remind ourselves of these great truths through communion!
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.
Forgiveness to be recieved
Faith to be renewed
Fears to be release - light our candles and sing
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
