LIVING OUT THE LORDSHIP YOU CONFESS
- OUR DAILY PRACTICE Part 4
(COLOSSIANS 3:5-17)
BIG IDEA
The Key to Living the Christian Life is Learning to Behave in Accordance with the Character of Christ, Based Solely on Your Union with and Your New Reality in Christ.
KEY QUESTION
What does it mean to our everyday existence that our lives have now been raised with Christ, that we have died with Christ, our lives are now hidden with Christ and that Christ is our life?
I. We Must Put On the New Life in Christ 12-17
A. By Continually Putting on the Character of the New Life 12-14
1. Know Who You Are 12a; 1 Pe 2:9, 2 Ti 1:9; Tit 2:14; Ro 5:8
2. Put on the Character of Christ 12b;
Mt 9:36; Lk 6:35; Php 2:3, 8, Mt 11:29; 1 Ti 1:16; Ro 2:4; Hos 11:4; Mt 22:1-11; Co 1:22-23
3. Be Patient with Each Other Like Christ 13a
Jn 13:34-35, Mk 12:29-31, 3:15-4:1; Ecc 7:20
bear with (ἀνέχομαι anĕchŏmai) putting up with/tolerating the things of others that would naturally produce other reactions.
Tolerance when it comes to personal relationships is a virtue, but tolerance when it comes to truth is a travesty. -Hank Hanegraaff
4. Forgive Each Other Like Christ 13b
Forgive (χαρίζομαι charizŏmai) choosing to graciously release a person from an obligation or debt for a wrong committed against us. It's a choice. It is an outworking of grace.
5. Love Each Other Like Christ 14
