Get Ready

Luke 12:35–40 NIV

35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

1. Live your life ready to meet Jesus

Jesus encouraged His followers to be ready for service

Jesus was reminding the servants about the importance of being ready

2. Preparation leads to success

Roman philosopher Seneca, is attributed with saying, “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

I believe that success happens when preparation meets opportunity

Be ready at all times

Be ready to turn the page

Be ready to start a new chapter

Be prepared and you will not be surprised

3. Know what you need

Get rid of excess

Get rid of what is holding you back (not your spouses)

Get rid of stinking attitude

You need one “yes”

Learn to overcome the many “Nos” to get to your yes

Chinese proverb: “Dig the well before you are thirsty”

4. Make the necessary preparations

Abraham Lincoln said, “I will study and get ready, then maybe my chance will come.”

Be ready in season and out of season

Preparing for what you know is coming is getting a late start

Be ready for what you are expecting

Jesus admonished the servants to be prepared for what they did not know was coming

5. Get Ready

Get ready for a miracle

Make room for what you are believing

Get ready for double

You have suffered much - double is coming

Get ready - your faithfulness will be rewarded

Get ready for your breakthrough

Get ready for the impossible

Get ready - God is for you
