Covenant is not a concept, it is a reality

The LORD is going to make an intangible thing, quite real to Abram

Genesis Chapter 15, all…he wants to be our shield and our exceeding great reward

Genesis 15:1 thy shield, as in buckler, a smaller personal shield, God does not have to appear in visions to us now, He indwells His people

Covenant has much to do with inheritance, as in Abram being childless

Verse 5 “tell the stars” as He wants Abram to be able to see the substance of covenant

There are two sons of Abram, the natural line as in Israel, and in the spirit Gal 3:28-4:7

Heirs of God, I am my Father’s heir, what he has is mine, and I am already enjoying that position as our house is on my Grandfather’s farm, I have received part of it already

Verse 6 is the first statement of faith in all The Word of God, faith in what God said made Abram right with God, nothing else can. Abram said “AMEN” to God

Verse 10 is the covenant being ratified, made legally binding…The party of the first part joined hands with the party of the second part, they stated their contract, and then they walked through the sacrifice. In that day this corresponded to going down to the courthouse and signing before a notary public in our day. So we see that God is using with Abram the legal procedure of his day. …they walked in the blood together

Jeremiah 34:18 shows the covenant partners passing between the halves of the sacrifice

Verse 12 The LORD puts Abram into a sleep, The LORD is going to walk among the pieces himself, Abram is not, as this is an UNCONDITIONAL COVENANT , Abram was paralyzed in sleep, you and are were paralyzed in sin, UNTIL JESUS CAME
