Intro: Easter is coming, big celebration. Why so important for us to take time to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection?

State of the World: Begin by considering the state of the world.  Govt, judicial system, religious institutions. 

Get congregation response

Lots of corruption-Crime, murder, drub abuse, abuse of kids   Wars watching; tearing lives apart.  Wages rage throughout the world.

Corruption leads to wounds.

Nothing new under the Sun:  Is the world any worse now that is ever has been?

Ecclesiastes 1:9 “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun”. 

Back to Adam & Eve

State of the Human Heart: We are source of corruption in the world.  Causes us to wound one another.

Feel the need?  See the need for a savior?  World is crying out

Psalm 38:22 Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior

Psalm 25:5 guide me in your truth and teach me,
       for you are God my Savior,
       and my hope is in you all day long.

Who will save us?

Closing-there is Hope!  Next week let’s begin to look at how God has been responding to our need.
