Taking steps of faith

Church-people on journey to know God. Takes learning steps of faith

-knowledge of God-faith in God showing self to you

-walking in His ways…better than mine-faith-forgiveness, Holy Spirit

-trusting Him to provide

-believing He wants to work through you

Most people don’t think of greatness-for other people

“I’m just”…. Humility OK, but we overdo it…hold up our weaknesses and diminish what God can do…

Say that’s for great people.

Those people are regular people…but believed in importance of sharing & living out God’s love, and that God wanted to use their lives for something great. God’s greatness is available for all of us…takes faith to see past our weaknesses and attain that greatness…

Paul…great/weak. My grace is sufficient for you. Believed greatest of sinners…trusted God

1 Timothy 1:16-in first letter to Timothy said he was the worst of sinners

2 Cor 12:7-10: when I am weak God is strong.

-the weaker we are, the more God’s strength is displayed for people around us…greater things are done for Him.

Martin Luther-weak, read Bible-faith in Christ…believed he had to remain faithful to God

Me…learning that walking in faith involved much more trust than we really realize

-thought couldn’t lead a Bible study

-Sunday school…small step…OK, 3yrs olds

-by Farmington, took a slightly larger step of faith…OK..trusting that God wanted us here to do something for Him.

-CF…had to or disobey God….

What’s next? If I dream…revolution. But through me?

still have much to learn, but the one thing I know when times get tough…God called me here, and I need to continue trusting Him in all situations(God works for the good…)

Think back to beginning of the River…me, Wendy, Laura Lee…ordinary people wanting to see God do something great, and willing to take some steps of faith…not about us being great, but God doing great things through us.

-look at this church now…you are all part of something great here…much more in store! Another leg of the journey…Deubers…what is God going to do through you all there? What kind of impact? Who else is going to be reached? Who else is going to become part of this church and need help from people like you to learn steps of faith. Your stories will help. What can you do to help? Construction? Contacts/promotion? Inviting?

What else might God be calling you to trust Him in? What do you dream of seeing happen for God, but are afraid you’ll mess it up? What do you see is wrong with the world we live in, but you are not sure how to do anything about it? Who around you needs to know God’s love, but you are not sure how to talk to them about it?

If I dream…revolution. But through me?....

I don’t know exactly what God might want you to do, but I do know God asks everyday people like you and me to trust Him and allow Him to use us to reach others for Christ..

o I know that God doesn’t call you to do great things when he knows you’ve got what it takes to do it…He calls you to do great things YOU CAN’T DO ALONE…to teach you to trust him more.

So, today I want to encourage you to put your full trust in God. Wherever your faith is today, I know that there is more faith available to you…Your life and your availability to God to help accomplish His work on this earth matters…God will provide you opportunities to grow and learn, and He will do great things in and through you…if you start by simply taking a step of faith….
