Introduction
Many years ago, we had taken the family to visit relatives, my grandmother, as I recall. My daughter was playing in the backyard when I heard her blood-curdling screams. Immediately, i ran to see what was happening and I found her shaking with fear and crying as she stared an earthworm, about eight inches long, and calling it a snake.
No matter what, I will run to the cry of my children. You will, too. I am full of joy and confidence because I know that I, too, have a father like that in the Lord; He runs to my cry.

Finances - health issues - decisions - opportunities - challenges
Transition: When I kook to the mountains I am forced to question my ability to survive the journey because...
Those mountain ranges are uncross-able without help

A. Like the psalmist, we begin by declaring our need of help; often the most difficult part of the process.

Himself
Other people - the best people in our lives cannot give us all the help we need. (Although these can be authentic avenues by which God intervenes.)
A lucky break (“coincidences”)
It’s when I lift my eyes higher than the mountains that I find my help.

We can have confidence in the one who will run to our cry.

The Lord is my maker
Illustration: Even a certified mechanic doesn’t know an automobile like the one who designed it. The mechanic relies on the specs provided by the manufacturer.
Here are the promises on which we can rely:
God’s power is unlimited.
God’s are is uninterrupted.
God’s protective shield cannot be compromised.
B. Confidence is inspired as much by love as by ability.
B. Confidence is inspired as much by love as by ability.
Hear the love of Christ as described by Hebrews:
For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
The most profound faith is the simple trust in the One you love, the One who loves you.
He is a safe place
