Title:  In The Beginning (Epic Series)

Text:  John 1:1

Proposition:  God’s story is greater than ours, longer then ours, but invites ours in and makes it complete.

Application:  We must respond to the invitation to be part of God’s story.

Once upon time there was  . . . with

·         A beautiful princess                      an evil stepmother

·         King Arthur                                 his men of the Round table

·         Masked man                               his kemosabe Tonto

·         Battalion                                     a hill to take

·         3 little pigs                                  a house made of hay, sticks and bricks

·         A boy named Luke                       a desire to leave Tatooine and fight the empire

In the Beginning was

God                                           plan to create the earth

The Word

Our story begins like the rest in the midst of something happening, with the need just to trust the author for the backstory.

Martin Scorcese was enraptured as a kid by three things:  his local parish, the movie house and the people in his neighborhood.   Knowing that a asthmatic good kid probably wasn’t going to be a gangster, he had to choose between becoming a priest or a film maker.  The churches loss is cinemas gain.  His film “Goodfellas” may sum up the idea of “with” making a difference.  Henry Hill, the lead character has the speech that gives the film it’s title.

With – Scene of the date with Lorraine Bracco.

Promise of Scripture – Ex 3, Jn 14, Mt 28, Revelation 22.
