Where the Church Should Focus

Text:  Acts 2:42-47

Proposition:  The church focused on its spiritual nature will serve properly in its world.

Application:  We should conform our practices to the Biblical example.

What are four things the church should focus on?

-          Pulpits, Pews, Programs and Policies

-          Projectors, Screens, Praise Songs and Preachers suits or lack thereof

-          New, innovation, change and the unexpected

-          Tradition, ritual, comfort and familiarity

Maybe the Early Church can provide us with the answers

First notice it wasn’t just a focus it was devotion

-          10 minutes every morning

-          Devoted wife, husband, mother, father

The Apostles Teaching

            What were they teaching

                        Look back in the chapter

                                    OT Prophecy – points to Jesus

                                    OT History and Poetry points to Jesuss

                                    Jesus was crucified by us, for us.

The fellowship (v. 44-46)

            Life Together

                        Took care of each others’ needs (and others too)

                        Spent their time together both in worship and relaxation

The Breaking of Bread

            Communion – This do in remembrance of me.

Prayer

            Could be the prayers – still following the Jewish prayer times at the temple
