(Acts 19:5, NIV) ... they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

The Baptismal Symbolism

Death: (Galatians 2:20, NIV) I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

New Life: (Romans 6:8, NIV) Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

The Baptismal Method

Believer’s Baptism: (Acts 2:38, NIV) Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ ...

Public Baptism: (Luke 3:21, NIV) When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. ...

Immersive Baptism: (Matthew 3:13, NIV) Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.

baptizo (βαπτίζω), “to baptize,” comes from the word bapto, “to dip”

The Baptismal Blessing

The Baptismal Blessing Given By Jesus

(Matthew 28:19, NIV) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
This is the only time in the New Testament where this baptismal pronouncement is found.

The Baptismal Blessing Used In The New Testament Focuses On The Lord Jesus Christ

(Acts 10:48, NIV) So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
(Acts 19:5, NIV) On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Were The Apostles And Early Disciples Being Negligent Or Rebellious?

Neither ... they were acting in accordance with their revelation of who Jesus is!
(Colossians 2:9, NLT) For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.
“fullness” (πλήρωμα) full, complete, totality with emphasis upon completeness
(Hebrews 1:3, NIV) The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, ...
“representation” (χαρακτήρ) image, imprint, representation
This Greek word was used to describe (1) a tool used for engraving (2) the image made from the tool.
The image produced by a seal matches the image of the seal itself.

2. The Apostles and early disciples understood the significance of the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord
Throughout the NT Jesus was often referred to as “Lord”
This corresponds with the name of the Father.
(John 17:11, NIV) ... Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, ...
Throughout the OT God referred to Himself as Yahweh; the covenant name of God; translated “LORD”.
“Lord” reveals how Jesus fully represents God the Father.

Jesus

(Luke 1:31, NIV) You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.
“Jesus” reveals how Jesus is God the Son.

Christ

Christ is the Greek term for “anointed” and points us to the Holy Spirit from whom the anointing comes.
Christ (“anointed one”) is equivalent to the Hebrew term “Messiah”.
“Christ” reveals how Jesus fully represents God the Spirit.

3. Based on the full description of Jesus and the revelation the Apostles had of His name I will baptize you as follows:

“I baptize you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the full representation of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
