Is there anyone who enjoys being authentically afraid & full of fear?
How you’ll pay your bills
Whether or not you’re going to maintain your health
Is someone after you to hurt you or your family
Loss of any kind
If you’ll ever find true fulfillment in this life
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Fear is an enemy!
8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.
We are not designed to live in fear!
In this season, the phrase “Faith over Fear” has become a popular catch phrase amongst Christians & “People of faith”
How do we get our faith to ACTUALLY be bigger than our fears???
More accurately - How do we live by faith rather than by fear?
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
1537. ἐκ ĕk, ek; or
ἐξ ĕx, ex; a prim. prep. denoting origin (the point whence motion or action proceeds), from, out (of place, time or cause; lit. or fig.; direct or remote):—
Your life will tend in the direction of your most dominant thoughts and images - Dr. Bob Harrison (an adaptation of Earl Nightingale’s quote)
Here’s the Key:
Here’s the Key:
4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.
1.Seek:
1.Seek:
What does it “look like” when we seek the Lord?
You’ve heard me say it before -
Biblically seeking God does not look like a 5 year old trying to find something to eat in the refrigerator
Seeking is more like looking for that contact lens, wallet, or small, expensive piece of jewelry that you dropped -
You can’t afford to stop looking until you find the Lord.
Sought:
1875. דָּרַשׁ dârash, daw-rash´; a prim. root; prop. to tread or frequent; usually to follow (for pursuit or search); by impl. to seek or ask; spec. to worship:—
Let’s ask ourself this question: Is this what my seeking the Lord looks like?
I love how the definition of this word means to frequent
To frequent God’s Presence means that:
God’s presence is not an unfamiliar place to those who seek!
We need to get “Frequent Flyer”/ “Platinum Member” Stats with Jesus
We know we have found the Lord when we are delivered from ALL our fears
7 Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.
Worship is a crucial component of seeking:
This is why we spend more time than the “average church” in Worship
This is why we encourage people to have personal times of worship all day long & every single day - Sunday & Wednesday just doesn’t “cut it” when it comes to seeking
Attendance ≠ Worship
Private, personal worship is what we live off of - Corporate worship brings a special commanded blessing when done in unity
2. God Hears You:
2. God Hears You:
If God hears us the same way we hear those we don’t really care to, or have time to respond to it might not be a big deal for us to know that God Hears Us
Hear:
6030. עָנָה ʿânâh, aw-naw´; a prim. root; prop. to eye or (gen.) to heed, i.e. pay attention; by impl. to respond; by extens. to begin to speak; spec. to sing, shout, testify, announce:—
God doesn’t only hear & see, He responds!
9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.”
When we seek God, He begins to speak, sing, shout, testify, & announce things to our spirit! - This is where faith comes!
3. God Delivers Us:
3. God Delivers Us:
Delivered:
5337. נָצַל nâtsal, naw-tsal´; a prim. root; to snatch away, whether in a good or a bad sense:—
God delivers us from ALL our fears!
God doesn’t take our fears away - Seeking Him snatches US away from the fears we are facing!
Just One Thing:
Just One Thing:
What are you fearing? Relentlessly seek the Lord & allow Him to snatch you away from those things with faith.
