Let us pray:

"Father in heaven,
You ordained marriage for your children, and you gave us love.
We present to You David and Jessica, who come this day to be married.
May the covenant of love they make be blessed with true devotion and spiritual commitment.
We ask that You, God, will give them the ability to keep the covenant they are making.
When selfishness shows itself, grant generosity; when mistrust is a temptation, give moral strength;
when there is misunderstanding, give patience and gentleness; if suffering becomes a part of their lives, give them a strong faith and an abiding love.
Amen.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Today we come and celebrate the love of David Brandau and Jessica Newton.

We celebrate God joining two very different people with the most powerful force in all creation, Love.
John wrote,
1 John 4:12 “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
You see, Love is the power of creation, love is the voice calling light out of darkness.
Love was the force that calmed the storm, that raised the dead, and willingly died in our place.
As John so aptly put it. - God is Love.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
When a man and a woman share in the powerful force of love, they are in fact sharing in the Divine nature of God.
As love overtakes us we find -
That the other becomes more important than our self.
That the treasures of this world pale in comparison to the company of our love.
That pain, sorrow, and poverty become bearable in the presence of our love.
Proverbs 3:3
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yet there is more to love than simple feelings.

1 John 3:18 NLT
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
Ephesians 4:2-3
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The reality is, you do not fall into love, you commit to it.
Love is saying I will be there no matter what!
Love is putting the other at all times before yourself.
Love is a covenant
A covenant of promises between a man, woman and God.
A time will come when youthful passions will fade - but love will STAND.
Times of sorrow will surely come - but love will remain.
Times of doubt will fill your minds but - love will stand fast.
Love is not simply an emotion - it is a bond built by God that can withstand the powers of Hell, and the floods of life.
The Apostle Peter Wrote,
1 Peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
David and Jessica, today you will be making promises to one another and to God. These promises will be the bedrock of your love and give your love the ability to grow and mature.
Do not takes these promises lightly. For not only are you making these promises to one another but, you are making them to God as well.
Your parents are here, your loved ones and friends are here but the most amazing guest of all is the Spirit of God.
Today the Holy Spirit is in this room, by your sides.
As God gave Eve to Adam, today God gives you both to one another.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Commitment to Marriage:

David, will you take Jessica to be your wedded wife, to cherish her and live with her according to God’s holy ordinance? Will you pledge your loyalty to her, and promise to love, honor, comfort, and keep her, in health and in sickness, in prosperity and adversity, and keep yourself unto her only so long as you both shall live? If so, answer I will.
David – I will.
Jessica, will you take David to be your wedded husband, to cherish him and live with him according to God’s holy ordinance? Will you pledge your loyalty to him, and promise to love, honor, comfort, and keep him, in health and in sickness, in prosperity and adversity, and keep yourself unto him only so long as you both shall live? If so, answer I will.
Jessica – I will.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Repetition of Vows:

David, at this time will you declare your vows of love and commitment to Jessica.
David will then say his own vows.
Jessica, will you declare your vows of love and commitment to David.
Jessica will say her own vows.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unity Chords – Soft music will be playing in the background.
David and Jessica at this time you will braid the unity chords. Each of you should take one strand that represent your individuality. As your braid them together around the third strand, let this symbolize your lives becoming one around our God and Savior.
As Solomon wrote,
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10For if they fall, one will lift up the other. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
(Instrumental Music play in the background)
Walk back to the center of the stage once done.

Exchange of Rings

David, what token do you bring as a pledge that you will faithfully perform these vows?
(David obtains ring from attendant, hands to minister and says): This ring.
Minister (– holding the ring in the air) Let this ring be the sacred symbol of your abiding love.
(Minister returns ring back to David)
David place the ring on Jessica’s ring finger and repeat after me: This ring I give you…. as a pledge of my loyalty and love.

Prayer of Blessing

Minister – Biblical marriage is Christ centered. Today you both are joining your hopes and dreams to create new hopes and dreams. Today, together you join hands to walk in the mission of God together.
Paul’s words to the church of Colossi summarize your vows and new life together when he wrote,
“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of God Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Will you kneel together as I pray God’s blessing over you.
Music will be playing in the background. (couple kneels) Minister places his hands on their heads and prays.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pronouncement of Marriage:
David and Jessica, will you join your hands.
For as much as David and Jessica have declared their love for one another before God and you, I pronounce them husband and wife, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. What God has joined, let no one put asunder.
David,
You may kiss your bride.
Will you all please stand! Ladies and gentlemen, family and friends, it is my honor to present to you David and Jessica Brandau
