Philippians 3:10–4:1 CSB
10 My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, 11 assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead. 12 Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, 14 I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus. 15 Therefore, let all of us who are mature think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you. 16 In any case, we should live up to whatever truth we have attained. 17 Join in imitating me, brothers and sisters, and pay careful attention to those who live according to the example you have in us. 18 For I have often told you, and now say again with tears, that many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is in their shame; and they are focused on earthly things, 20 Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. 21 He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself. 1 So then, my dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown, in this manner stand firm in the Lord, dear friends.

I. To know Him...

1. That Everyone in this church will take responsibility for their own path to discipleship through a sincere desire to know Christ.
a. Through self-education - learning how to study the bible for oneself, making Bible study a true priority.
b. Through the seeking out of spiritual mentorship beyond church and Sunday School.
Who are you accountable too in your walk with Christ?
c. Through prioritizing the gathering of Christ people above everything else

II. To humble ourselves.... (Not that I have already reached the goal....)

Philippians 3:12 CSB
12 Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus.
1. It is only the humble who feel the need for this desperate pursuit of Christ.
2. Religious people are angered by The Word, the humble are empowered.

III. To leave behind our past way of thinking, our past way of life....

Philippians 3:13 CSB
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead,

IV. To actively pursue The Prize through call of Christ.....

Philippians 3:14 CSB
14 I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.

V. To actively pursue a greater level of obedience...

Philippians 3:15–16 CSB
15 Therefore, let all of us who are mature think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you. 16 In any case, we should live up to whatever truth we have attained.
After reading this passage of scripture, how can we not try to raise the bar of expectations in every area of this ministry and in our lives?
How are we going to raise the bar.
I. Within the first quarter of this year, we are going to reestablish the deacon family ministry.
- This means that we will need a process to find out who we are responsible for...(more on this later)
II. Sunday January 10, we will launch the “Bless Every Home Campaign” - Our goal in this is 100% participation in the mission to reach others for Christ.
III. Pastor Will and I have been working on lifestyle covenants for all areas of ministry from worship, deacons, Sunday school teachers, youth and children’s workers.
- doesn’t it make sense that those leading in these areas should be setting the example in lifestyle and commitment?
IV. We will begin the process of looking for an interim minister of music.
