Introduction
The Two Towers, the second of the LOTR trilogies.
Aragorn travels to a haunted cave to find an army.
An army that had sworn to fight for the land of Gondor, but had broken their oath.
Trapped as spirits. Until Aragorn utters that phrase, “I summon you to fulfill your oath.”
Once they go into battle, they are freed from their spectral entrapment.
In the Christian life, we are likewise called to:
Remember your call.

They were getting a command - Pack up! That command contained a hope.

vv. 12-15
Context of tribes. Numbers 32 & Deuteronomy 3. Moabite Plains.
2 1/2 tribes have a commitment. As the others helped them to conquer the land, so they would.
They are going in as the vanguard, the tip of the spear, into battle.
As they have their place of rest, the others will have theirs.
But, 601,7300 person army. Did they really need this portion of them? 110,580??
God won the battle at Jericho, regardless of what the song says! God didn’t need them. Then why?
God values unity.
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.
that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him,
The church is called, as a body, to work together.
And these different calls connect you!
Spamalot.
You are not all alone!

People in “the land” have committed to doing whatever they are called to do.
The promise of Rest. Closely associated with Sabbath.
Not just rest from work, but time to reflect on God.
Rest is space for God in your life.
The connection to Sabbath. Peace.
But, needed the LORD’s leadership and presence.
The Mom Driving.
