Proverbs 13 Sermon D (20-25) - To become wise from earth to heaven - Guide 1: Listening (Reaction to Rebuke/Correction) 2-6: Power and Fury of Words (Desire/Appetite/Soul, Diligence) 7-11: Becoming Rich through diligence/patience/humility/learning, wealth and poverty threaten learning 12-19: Fulfillment of Desire/futility, Revering the Word, Learning, gaining practical wisdom/knowledge. 20-25: To become wise from earth to heaven. 20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. 21 Disaster pursues sinners, but the righteous are rewarded with good. 22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous. 23 The fallow ground of the poor would yield much food, but it is swept away through injustice. 24 Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. 25 The righteous has enough to satisfy his appetite, but the belly of the wicked suffers want. 20: Advice for the young and old - Fellowship of the Saints. "Fools" is the link between companion and harm. Who is wise? Who is a fool? Ruth 1:16 16 But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Matthew 10:41 41 The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. 42 And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward."
