PSALM 32
Confession, Forgiveness &
Grace
Psalm 32
1
BLESSEDNESS OF
FORGIVENESS
Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
2
Blessed is the one
whose sin the LORD does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit.
1
Psalm 32
2
NO HOLDBACK,
COMPLETENESS
When I kept silent,
my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4
For day and night
your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped
as in the heat of summer.[b]
3
Psalm 32
3
TURN TO GOD TO
ESCAPE JUDGMENT
Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
my transgressions to the LORD.”
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.
6
Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
will not reach them.
7
You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of
deliverance.

Psalm 32

A PROVERB, THEN A
CALL TO PRAISE
I will instruct you and teach you in the way
you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
9
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
or they will not come to you.
10
Many are the woes of the wicked,
but the LORD’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts in him.
11
Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you
righteous; sing, all you who are upright in
heart!

WHEN WE DON’T FORGIVE… STORY OF MOBY DICK
To the last I grapple with thee;
from Hell’s heart I stab at thee;
for hate’s sake, I spit my last breath at thee.”

served you, and I never
disobeyed your command,
yet you never gave me a
young goat, that I might
celebrate with my friends.

yours came, who has
devoured your property with
prostitutes, you killed the
fattened calf for him!’

WHAT’S PREVENTING
GRACE? ENVY?
Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are
pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had
almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped.
For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw
the prosperity of the wicked. For they have no
pangs until death; their bodies are fat and
sleek. They are not in trouble as others are;
they are not stricken like the rest of mankind.

REFLECTIVE QUESTIONS
• In what sense do you feel you are wandering? Or have you been a wanderer in
the past?
• What regrets burden you?
• Do these past events haunt you today still?
• When have you been surprised by what hurtful actions the people around you
are capable of?
• When have you been surprised by what you are capable of?
• What have you lost?
• How do each of these characters and their questions lead you to Christ?
