2 Chronicles 16:9 ESV
9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.”

We must have an Attitude of Relying on God for everything.

Proverbs 3:5–6 ESV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

What is Attitude? Its definition is, “A settled way of thinking or feeling. a position of the body indicating a particular mental state.”

Attitude indicates a stablished thinking pattern. A made up mind to live a certain way in life.

The government and media drive the thinking pattern of most people But I am encouraging you today to allow the Bible to drive your thinking pattern from now on.

Philippians 2:5 KJV 1900
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Jesus relied on God for everything and we should too.

John 5:30 KJV 1900
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

We must change our Attitude from relying on our abilities to relying on God for everything.

God gives us abilities But we must rely on God to help us with our abilities

John 15:5 ESV
5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

King Asa started out right but it is not how you start but how you finish.

2 Chronicles 14:9–12 ESV
9 Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and 300 chariots, and came as far as Mareshah. 10 And Asa went out to meet him, and they drew up their lines of battle in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. 11 And Asa cried to the Lord his God, “O Lord, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.” 12 So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

We can not be wishy washy with God and expect Him to continually to be on our side.

James 1:5–8 ESV
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

James tells us that we must be consistent with God in our Attitude.

James 1:25 ESV
25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

King Asa was not consistent and God responded to his inconsistency.

2 Chronicles 16:7–9 KJV 1900
7 And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the Lord thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand. 8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the Lord, he delivered them into thine hand. 9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

Let us be consistent with a New Attitude of Reliance on God for everything in our life.
