January 10, 2021 Communion - 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 Communion is the church's act of delighting in and declaring the saving death of Christ on the cross as one unified body. The Danger in Communion (17-22, 27-32) - Communion is a sacred time for the body. - God will discipline us if we do not honor it. The Delight in Communion (23-25, 33)k - It centers the church on the Gospel. The Declaration in Communion (26) - Both past and present grace are affirmed. - Future grace is anticipated. Acts 1:9-11 - 9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way you have watched Him go into heaven" Communion is the church's act of delighting in and declaring the saving death of Christ on the cross as one unified body.
