Be Strong & Of Good Courage

Acts 2:42 NKJV

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Intro - Before every great move of God, before Gideon defeated the Midianites, before Joshua defeated giants and entered the promised land, fear had to be conquered. Courage is not the absence of fear, it is doing what is required in spite of it.

The Bible says, Fear Not 365 times. One time for each day.

Four times God tells Joshua BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE

Your courage matters.

To THESE PEOPLE

Josh 1:6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.

To YOU, So You May Prosper

Josh 1:7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.

What Are You Meditating On?

Joshua 1:8 NKJV

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

1. Meditate - means mutter, utter, ponder, meditate think upon it until it’s coming out your mouth.

2. Act like a King - Deut 17:18-19 - Obey and spend time in His Word.

To YOUR GOD

Josh 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

To YOUR ENEMIES

Joshua 1:18 NKJV

Whoever rebels against your command and does not heed your words, in all that you command him, shall be put to death. Only be strong and of good courage.”

Somebody is determined to put satan in his place.

Someone else is going to get back what satan sought to steal.

How will we keep our courage?

Prayer - the most highlighted verse in the bible.

Philippians 4:6

Philippians 4:6 NKJV

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Focus - Isaiah 26:3 - You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed upon you because he trusts in you.

Overexposure to the truth - John 8:32 You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

Disciplined thought - 2 Tim 1:7 God has not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. Sound mind means disciplined thought.

Deliverance - Bind up the strong man because a stronger one has shown up.
