Make Disciples? What Does That Look Like?

Baptize? But I’m Not a Pastor.

Teach? I Don’t Know Enough.

The Great Commission Quickly Becomes the Great Omission.

II. Mission Sandwich.

Imperatives: Make Disciples, Baptize, Teach.

Held Together By Indicatives: Christ’s Authority & Presence.

The Sandwich Falls Apart If Not for Christ’s Authority (Transcendence) & Presence (Immanence).

This is Not Our Mission; It’s His. And He Has Given Us Everything We Need.

III. What It Means to ‘Go’.

When We Think of ‘Go’ We Think of Location.

‘Go’ Has More To Do With Mindset Than Location.

‘Go’ Requires a Mindset of Surrender.

‘Go’ Requires a Mindset of Trust.

‘Go’ Requires a Mindset of Intentionality.

IV. 3 Key Ingredients.

Scripture: God Revealed.

We Can’t Make Disciples of Jesus If We Don’t Know About Jesus.

We Can’t Baptize If We Don’t Have the Documents That Tell Us About Baptism.

We Can’t Teach Others to Obey What Jesus Taught If We Don’t Know What Jesus Taught.

Prayer: God Revealed to Us Personally.

We Can’t Make Disciples of a Jesus Who Prayed If We Don’t Pray Ourselves.

We Can’t Baptize Meaningfully If We Don’t Have Prayer. Baptism is Just a Ritual Otherwise.

We Can’t Teach Others to Obey Without Active Reliance on the One Who Helps Us Obey.

Relationships: God Revealed to Us as a Community.

We Can’t Make Disciples If There Isn’t Someone to Disciple Us & If We Have No One to Disciple.

We Can’t Baptize if We Don’t Have Someone to Baptize.

We Can’t Teach Others to Obey What Jesus Said If There’s No One to Teach.

It’s That Simple.
