I Can Hear God

This week we continue on this brand new series called “I Can Talk To God”. It’s true! This is not a joke or some fairy tale power. Me and you can actually talk to God. Isn’t that amazing!

I don’t know about you but the fact that i can talk to God about the good things going on in my life, the bad things going on, and sometimes the random thoughts I have throughout the day.

Anyone have random thoughts throughout the day?

Be as most people would say, a two way conversation is better then just a one sided talk. In fact that is what we are talking in Threshold today “ I CAN HEAR GOD”

Not only can we talk to God, but if you are ready for it you can HEAR GOD TALK BACK TO YOU! Crazy Right! So today as we continue on in service i want y'all to get ready as we learn today how “I can hear God”

Lesson

Today we look at a story found in Samuel. In fact I want y’all to know that Samuel was a boy. Not some adult or person way older then anyone in this room Samuel was a Boy that hear from God.

Hearing from God is not something your only your parents get to do , but this is 100% ready and available to y’all.

YOU CAN HEAR GOD

Now I want y’all to think about this for a minute. You can hear God speak to you. The creator of the universe. The same God that spoke and it happened. The same God that loves you SOOOO mush that he thinks about you all the time. You can hear him

How do I hear him? Well the only way to hear him is to ask him into your heart. If you haven’t asked Jesus to come into your heart before, it makes it really hard to hear Gods voice.

*its possible to hear God’s voice if you haven’t excepted him into your heart its just really hard to know its God. Like Samuel, if not for Eli telling him it was God he would not have know it was God speaking to him.

This morning i want to be Eli for y’all this morning and tell you that God is talking to you, and when you except is some Jesus into your heart you can Hear him.

HOW DO I HEAR FROM GOD

This is a ligament question? We get that we can hear from God, but how do i hear him. What do I need to do in order to hear God.

When we decide to toon into the frequency of God we can hear.

When we Pray, read our Bible, memorize God’s word (Psalms 17:6), take sometime in silence, talk to Godly friends or family. These are all ways that we can hear from God.

God talks to me a lot of times in random thoughts that I have from time to time.

The most resent example I can share of this happening to me it with my Father. Me and him don’t have the best relationship and most of the time when I have to be involved with him I just try to avoid talking or being real with my dad. But the Sunday after Christmas i was presented with an opportunity to pray with him. In my head I was thinking about it for a while and me and God began to have this conversation that went back and forth for a while that ended in me praying from him in the end.

See God talks to you though your thoughts sometimes. We just need to be tuned into His frequency.

GOD WILL NEVER TELL YOU SOMETHING BAD

So I bet by now a lot of y’all are thinking. I have thoughts all the time, how in the world am i suppose to know if they are from God or the devil or just me thinking randomly.

God will never tell you something evil or something that dose not line up with His word.

In John 10 Jesus tells this story about this “Good Shepherd”. The Good Shepherd leads his flock and the sheep that know His voice are taken care of and don’t follow the thief or robber voice because they know the Shepherds voice. The Jesus says this

John 10:10 ESV

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

The enemy will say stuff like:

“hey don’t tell your parents that you broke that, you will get in huge trouble”

“hey they are not looking right now go ahead had take it”

“Look how weird that kid over there looks, I’m not going to go sit with them”

“make sure your friend dose not get the credit, you did most of the work anyway. No one needs to think they are great”

None of these things are good. The devil knows only lie and destruction.

God will say stuff like:

“hey I know you will get in trouble but your parents love you. You should tell them the truth”

“they might know know but I will and God sees. I shouldn’t take that”

“I’m going to set and have lunch with that person by themselves. Maybe even invite them to hang out sometime”

“I hope me and my friend get a good grade for the work we both did together”

These are all times that you will hear from God.

CLOSING/PRAYER

God is talking guys, he never stops. We just have to be tuned into what he is saying. And the best way to do this is too except Jesus into your life.

Today you have the opportunity to do this. But maybe you have excepted him into your life but you have not been praying or reading your bible. Today you can ask for forgiveness and start today.

Either way today lets pray and ask God to help us this morning.
