Recap the Fall

God provided for Adam’s family.

v. 1-2a The Lord blessed Adam & Eve with Cain & his brother Abel.
v. 2b The Lord blessed Cain & Abel with work.

Adam taught his sons to give back to God.

v. 3-4a Cain & Abel presented offerings to God
Cain presented some of the land’s produce
Abel presented some of the firstborn of his flock & their fat portions
v. 3-4a Cain & Abel had different attitudes toward their giving
Cain presented SOME of the land’s produce
Abel presented some of the FIRSTBORN of his flock AND their fat portions
v. 4b-5 Their attitudes affected their offerings

In His generosity, God warned Cain to watch himself.

v. 6-7

Cain rejected God’s generous correction and killed his brother.

v. 8 Cain’s action was a deliberate choice to rebel against God
Gen 3:6
v. 9-10 When God questioned Abel, he denied responsibility
Gen 3:9-13
v. 10-12 God demands punishment for what has been done
Gen 3:14-19
v. 13-16 Even in his punishment, God is generous & gracious
Gen 3:20-21

God continued to be generous, even after Adam & his family continued to fail Him.
