The Centrality of God in History

The Sovereignty of God in comparision to the false gods of the nations is evident in God’s response to the Assyrians.

Man’s sin is against God (22-25)

The Assyrian king made a mistake in coming against the daughter of the King of Zion

They have reproached the Lord in their actions here on earth

Romans 3:23 We have fallen short of his glory

God works through sinful men (26-29)

God has been at work from the beginning and nothing has been done without his knowledge and permission

God made Assyria into the powerful nation that they are and allowed them the victories they had so far

Rom 9:17-23 God is working out his plan to make his glory known through out the world

Romans 14:11 every knee shall bow

God brings all things about according to his plans (30-35)

He will keep a remnant to fulfill his promises to Abraham, Israel and David

He will do this for his own sake
