WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH JESUS?
Ephesians 2:4-6 KJV
Intro: Death brings new existence, new order, and it is universal.
It is appointed ONCE for all men to die, and after that judgment.
This passage shows the fate of saved men, those who acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus in all things, those who love Him and obey Him: God considers the saved to be seated with Christ in the heavenlies NOW.
1.
We must understand God is merciful and loves us even in our sins.
2. We must acknowledge God’s sovereignty by bowing before Him, giving Him our lives in obedience to His will, and by submitting unto God but apart from sin.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Illus: Adam falling with the pride of life, lust of the eye, and lust of the flesh 1 John 2:16
Illus: Sin missing the mark.
The rifle range, Man jumping for the moon with highest jump of 28 feet.
Makes little difference between lowest point of earth (Dead Sea) or atop Mt Everest.
Rom 5:8 God PROVED His love for us by sending His Son to die while we were His enemies.
Some men might die for a righteous man but no one dies for His enemies
Taking our sin together with God’s love, He did something!
Rom 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
Sonship is not automatic yet whosoever will can come to God.
It takes understanding the great blemish of sin against God that we all have personally done – “Against thee only have I sinned and committed this evil in your sight!”
We must understand that God loved me (each one) and provided the way to salvation.
Sin must be paid for by death so God Himself obeyed the law perfectly as a human being for everyone and died for the sin payment BUT we must acknowledge Him as Lord meaning He rules everything and MY OWN LIFE!
This acknowledges the fact – God rules but He wants voluntary submission.
Romans 10:9, 10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
The question remains: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH JESUS?
