Redeemed By The Blood
I. You Were Bought With A Price
A. But not by corruptible things -
1. Silver or gold
2. Vain conversation (the traditions of your fathers)
B. But by The precious blood of Christ.
1. Precious - of great value, priceless, much esteemed. Held in honor.
A. It is precious because of what it took to make available.
1. David Morris, an American Missionary to India was friends with an old pearl diver named Rambhau. He tried to witness to him tell him all he needed was Jesus to get to heaven, Rambhau would say, “it’s too easy…Perhaps I am too proud. I must work for my place in heaven, or I would be uncomfortable there.” One day Bro. Morris heard a knock on his door and Rambhau was there asking him to come to his house he was making his last dive and needed to make some preperations. As they neared the home Rambhau told him the first day of the year he was going to crawl to Delhi to purchase his place in heaven. As they entered the modest hut Rambhau showed the missionary a small heavy strongbox. “It belonged to his son, the best diver in the whole coast who dreamed of getting the best pearl ever. One day he saw it but had been underwater too long already. He died not long after. Rambhau tears flowing freely handed the box to the missionary and said here I want you to have it. Bro. Morris opened the box and carefully unwrapped the pearl it was perfect, suddenly he was struck with an idea, he said, “Rambhau I can’t just take it let me give you ten-thousand dollars for it?” Rambhau replied, NO I will only give it as a gift. David answered, but I can’t take it like that, “That is too easy, perhaps I am too proud I must work for it or pay for it” The old pearl diver was stunned, “You don’t understand at all, My only son gave his life to get this pearl. Its worth is in the lifeblood of my son. I cannot give it to you. Just take it in token of the love I bear you.
David Morris was so choked up he could hardly speak. Finally he called his name out softly, “Rambhau, Don’t you see that is just what God has been saying to you” The old pearl diver looked searchingly at the missionary as the light began to dawn on him and the tears began to course even more freely down his cheek as he knelt to pray.
2. He never made it to Delhi he had his place in heaven purchased by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
B. So Christ gave his life for us - I see him in the garden that night as the angry mob gathers to take him away, Peter rushes over and cuts off a servants ear, Jesus picks it up and restores it immediately he then makes a statement I can’t hardly get away from, …. “I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.”
1. Jesus gave himself over too that mob, they took him dragged him away, taking him to the high priest.
2. They got two false witnesses to say something similar and used against him
A. They mocked him and slapped him and spat upon him, they whipped him and hung him on an old rugged wooden cross and raised it high and as it thudded in the ground a legion of angels unsheathed their swords just waiting for him to nod. Aren’t you so thankful he didn’t nod.
He did it for you, You were bought with a price.
C. The Blood - Blood is naturally in the body but not naturally out of it. God said that the life (nees) or breath of God (Oxygen) is in the blood. And they were commanded not to shed the blood of humans, (slay or kill them) if you did the same was to be done to you.
1. The blood of animals was used as sacrifices and the blood on the day of atonement at least was to come into contact with the holy of holies.
A. This release of blood is seen as the realease of that persons. A sign of surrender.
B. Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
C. “For His blood was not just blood of another spotless lamb, His blood was precious blood for it washed the sins of man, And his blood heals my body and sets my spirit free. I’m so glad His precious blood still flows from Calvary.”
1. “And it will never loose it’s power The blood that cleanses from all sin will never loose it’s power”
II. Your Soul Belongs To God
1. To go and live your life the way you want to live it makes you a theif and a robber. Isn’t that what Jesus says, I am the door, any one who comes any other way is the same as a thief and a robber.
You are bought with a price, your soul belongs to God, But are you washed in the blood, have you been beneath the fountain, do you know your name is in the Lamb’s book of life? Does the Spirit answer to the Blood?
ATONEMENT
The English word atonement is derived from the two words "at onement" and denotes a state of togetherness and agreement between two people. Atonement presupposes two parties that are estranged, with the act of atonement being the reconciliation of them into a state of harmony. The theological meaning is the reconciliation between God and his fallen creation, especially between God and sinful human beings. Atonement is thus a solution to the main problem of the human race

ATONEMENT
The Pauline epistles also offer a number of images to capture the various facets of the richness of Christ's atoning work. One of Paul's favorite images for describing humankind's plight under sin is slavery. Paul writes that Christ's atonement has set us free from our enslavement (Gal 5:1).
