The Life of A Christian A Holy Calling 2 Tim 1:9

The life of a Christian is a priveledge. It is a high calling, it is for whosoever will but it comes with a huge responsiblity, an enormous calling, and great rewards.

A Christian is called to be a –

1. Soldier - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

A. Given our wardrobe of armour

B. Told what to fight against

1. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph. 6:12

C. Bravery demands running

1. Lust - so dangerous that Paul commands to just run away from it. Not as a coward but as a soldier right to Christ

A. 2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

B. 1Co 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

2. Servant -

A. If we serve we will be served Luke 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

B. Serving to Lead

Luk 22:26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

Joh 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

C. Serving by Following

Joh 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

3. Son -

Chastened-Heb 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Abides in Christ - 2Jn 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Overcomers - Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Heirs

Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Gal 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

4. Sent -
