Well, good morning. Hey Ya. Good to see you today and happy for what's going on in your lives. Wanted to add a little bit if we can to what's going on in your life. Okay, we have some. New opportunities that will begin this week Tuesday. We will get food delivered for our first groceries to Go Distribution.

Groceries to go is by appointment only and so the first distribution is on Thursday. If you'd like to kind of see how that goes be good to show up sometime before noon. And we'll have our distribution from my noon until 2 on Thursday the show. Basically, what happens is people come who have an appointment they stay outside and we take groceries out to them and then just check off a checkbox that they've picked up their groceries and those appointments are made by the food bank. So we'll see how it goes. You know, it's just knew it may start out slow or I don't know. Well, we'll see how that happens. I need to get this over with Richard. I keep bothering him and keep this microphone where it's not supposed to be. Okay, so anyway

Jimmy yeah, it'll be a little learning thing for us. But we need to we need plenty of people to help will sign people up to work either Tuesday or Thursday for a couple hours. I just deliver food. So if you can help with that, please let Tom or Doug or Susie, you know that you'd be willing to help and we'll have a schedule of people who are going to be working through that so. If you know people who could use some help with food. They can go to the food bank on website, which is CC on Central California and CC foodbank.org and there's a tab on there that says groceries to go. When I click on the groceries to go they'll need to fill out a form and then when I get down to the bottom, it says, you know, where do you want to pick up your groceries? And there's one of those little arrows, you know that you click on and it drops down and gives a locations where you can pick up and and they just click Layton. And then it'll give my calendar the only problem I I could talk with food bank right now cuz it just gives him a calendar that shows all of January and we are only Distributing in Layton on Tuesday or Thursday. So I think like any other day then Tuesday or Thursday. He'll say no times available. So I wish you when you click late and that it would the calendar which show only Tuesdays and Thursdays on there to begin with and maybe they're working on that. It's it's all new to us to the food bank everybody. So so we're trying to get it worked out. So anyway Ministry that we're beginning in addition to the other food that is going on. Okay. Is it already boxed up? It's already boxed up except in the refrigerator or right now, we're going to have

Will have I think tortillas and eggs in the refrigerator and those won't be boxed up so that everything else is shelf-stable. Okay, and the stuff that is not shelf-stable will not be boxed. It went when we receive it. So, okay. so yeah and then on Wednesday will receive another delivery of 300 boxes of shelf-stable food and that's just for our food distribution Okay so Wednesday I have no idea that when they're coming Wednesday 9 that are coming at 9:30 on Tuesday so that deliver that food so okay so anyway and any reason we picked Tuesday and Thursday initially for our appointment for distribution is because there's already stuff going on at the church okay Tuesdays we have that in the men's bible study that's going on and so I'm hoping you guys can stay after and help out a little bit Thursdays we have the ladies Bible study going on I hope that you all may be a lady or two will stick around and help out a little bit with just either loading the wagon or taking away going out to the car wait we have two carts that aren't you know like the push carts that they use for catering or that type of thing so the food bank gave us two of those cards that we can set the groceries on and just cart him out to people's cars Okay. So anyway, sorry it's a new and different opportunity. So and so I appreciate what God is doing. There are the other thing is they probably for a little while. I don't know. We'll see what happens but for a little while we may have a pretty good amount of furniture available from time to time Costco has purchased a furniture manufacturer and so they are changing how Furniture is handled in Costco. And so a lot of what they've been handling they are getting rid of and we're getting it okay some of it so why that's nice stuff, you know, Thomasville Broyhill and all that type of thing. And so I may be for a month or two. I don't know how long it will go on. We may have some excess Furniture coming from from the Costco Warehouses that we will be Distributing to people so if you know someone that is in need contact Amor Doug, and they're they're kind of handling the distribution. that and we and we never know what we're going to get I just whatever shows up on the truck and that's it so okay so anyway God just keeps blessing with with things that we need to get out and get two people so I'm an alright has God been blessing in your life

Tara okay, pray for Tara All right. Yeah. Hey, I forgot one phrase. We had 18 guys at breakfast yesterday. Is really good though the food just appeared to Albright just a really good day devotional. So I hadn't had a wonderful time together Pastor Eric for the next two weeks will be over helping out with the with a little more church that he's helping out with so be in prayer for him. Okay, so you go through that things are really turning around. I mean that place was about to shut down and now they're coming to life. I mean it is it's a real turn around so he's he's been doing some really good health and really good work over there. We just want to keep our church is healthy. And so whenever that happens to be if if we can help out from here, we're going to help out from here. We want healthy churches in our communities and Yeah, there's there's no reason for anybody to just quietly go away. We need to we need to keep keep things alive in our communities in and keep local churches around we don't need ya this deal where he connect but I'm not I'm not for being connected to some satellite where there, you know thousand miles away. And we need to we need a local congregation where iron can't sharpen iron have done rub together. Come on people the only way that can happen. And so, you know, my brother's Christian Believers and whether small or large where that happens to be and work where people can come together and be held accountable to one another and not just say I saw you last week and see you next week, you know, but a good group of accountable Christians are holding one another keeping each other on the path. We need that throughout our communities and so pray for Pastor Eric. He goes over there just another another lighthouse in a dark World. Okay, I need to keep the lights burning. Okay, that's a different story watch free. All right. Well, I hope you came to worship today. God God has been blessing us. Just just incredible ways. And I'm so so we want to worship him this morning Lord. We thank you for this day. We thank you for your presents with us. We thank you that when we gather together, it is like it multiplies your presence. We thank you for your Holy Spirit who walks up and down these aisles and speaks to us individually and corporately I'm so Lord. This is your time. We are your people our hearts and our minds are yours. We pray Lord. That is we lift up your name as we bring you glory. That is due Your Name Lord that you will teach us.

To be servants in the Name of Christ. Amen.

Okay. Well we're going to we're going to start on a noodle pasta day starting a series it will go for about the about the five weeks and I then at the end of that I want to pre prepare you okay at the end of that one instead of our time when we're doing our testimonies and and thanks for for 1 week there. I want to pause that and so I have to be like 6 weeks down the road at work if we're going to have we're going to hear from a friend of Julie's who has been the station by our missions Department to Cambodia. Are there a lot of there a lot of missionary works all around the world and everything and are there places that are really popular like fiance, you know Taiwan and Thailand and those kind of places have a lot of missionaries. But if you get down in that Peninsula Vietnam Cambodia Laos, there are hardly any Christian missionaries hardly any and so Shannon went from Korea to Cambodia and she was supposed to come home. This was her year to come back to the United States and go around and report to church as well. She couldn't do that. But you did do a report on video that I want to play for you and then explain what the disc assessment some of the difficulties she's facing there was Medical Care in tanks and so we'll set aside that Sunday is kind of a Caring for others outside of our congregation Sunday. Okay, but in the meantime, I'm going to be looking at some things that I think could become missing ingredients. In what? Do you want to call him a fruit or just things that? All right, I think are missing in our society today that used to be common and that I believe are good Christian values. So for the next five weeks, we're going to look at some of those anyway, but last Sunday, I was really special and and I appreciate God in those times that are like that and just his presence was here. Incredibly. There's no reason for that not to happen every week but every week is different and that's why I praise God he's not same all the time. He is the same yesterday today and forever but inexperienced really there's a good variety of how God impacts has but this this first course it was who are going through last Sunday. I just I just kept thinking of this car. So so so we're going to sing it today.

thank you God for your glory Your Glory guide

God

got only you. Only you are worthy. Of Our Praise only you are worthy of honor and the glory above all. Hard without you we do not exist.

Lord we we think of these days in which we live.

And there is turmoil in these and this country right now Lord.

That for some of us just seems beyond our ability to explain.

We got I thank you that you are king of kings and Lord of lords. You are the maker of men. You are our provider. You are sovereign and you are in control. So Lord, we lift up those who would lead this country. We asked Lord that where there is divisiveness and division that you would intervene. Lord we ask that where there is hatred. That you would send your people to dispel those things that are causing the hatred. We ask Lord. That died during this transition Lord that regardless of what are politics maybe or whatever that our eyes will be fixed upon you. And that we will treat others with respect and honor that they deserve. And the god you will fill our hearts with the love that only you can give. Lord it is so easy in this world in which we live to pick up the Torches of hatred and revenge and spitefulness and to say things that maybe sometimes we wish we hadn't said but Lord I pray that you would guard our hearts and our minds and our tongues. As we deal with others within our community and in our society.

Florida I pray for those are all around the world. We are constantly getting reports of this a pandemic and the effects of this virus for hearing California, and of course, we feel it right here at home with the impact that it had in our lives the Lord. Sometimes. We forget that this is worldwide and that there are countries that do not have the medical facilities that we have their places to do not have the medical personnel that we have there are places that do not have a really hardly any way to deal with this and so Lord. I Thank you for persons that you sent around this world in medical missions and various other ways of Mercy ship and those kinds of things that God are are working to give to those who may be are falling through the cracks and maybe are losing hope until God. We thank you. Thank you for your work. wherever it be in this world strengthen them protect them may they do your work God we thank you that as soon as we enter into this week you are providing new opportunities for us to to be your hands and feet to this neighborhood in which we live by God I thank you for a church full of compassionate people who are willing to serve those who Well, I thank you that so many of do appreciate it what they're receiving but whether they do or not Lord make us obedient to your word and giving and in having hearts of compassion. Lord as we look at your word in a little different way today, would you guide our hearts and our minds would you help us learn as we approached your word and may we be quick to listen? Slow to anger and Bard may we be quick to learn from you in the Name of Christ? I pray. Amen. Amen. The answers are coming will receive this morning's ties and offerings.

hey man how many of you know that old hand

All right. Hey, maybe we'll see you next Sunday. Thank you, Kim. Why don't you have your Bibles open? I want you to be in Mark today. Okay chapter 6 if you joining us online welcome and I'm glad you're with us worshipping with us today. I'm beginning a new series. I will call a good fruit. Okay, I thought about calling you something like lost virtues or something. I don't know and so I just have to say that I can't think of a Time.

So we're going through in our country today. I can't think of a time which would be more spiritually burden to share what I'm going to share over the next few weeks. I really born out of my first time with God. I'm praying it will minister to you and a profound way next week. I let me just going to give you a line up here or talk or talk about on our this week next week. We're going to talk about in this very impure World in which we live the fruit of Purity. Okay, and Inno in a world of disposable relationships. We're going to talk about the fruit of loyalty. And in this world in which we live where anything goes we're going to talk about the fruit of integrity. And then I want to end up in this place where people I look around and then so many people just believe they are just entitled, you know that I deserve this kind of attitude. I want to help us re-establish and reclaim the fruit of gratitude and believing in God in every way. Okay, so that's that's where we're headed today. I want to talk to you about honor. So I would like everybody to say honor honor honor. Okay, we we got it and we were back there. So sadly we live in a culture. where man in the United States we can't live without honor

if you travel around the world and I haven't done a lot of world traveling been to Brazil a couple times you done and but if you were to travel around the world and ask different countries before you go into that country out if I come into your country how do I show honor Because each culture is just very different in in how this comes about whether you honor somebody or dishonor them by what you say or your actions and and those kind of things there are some things I had to learn not to say when I was in Brazil and some things that I had to learn not to do because I didn't want to offend anyone, okay.

For example of yeah, we talked to Julie. We just talked to her yesterday and but she is told us that as she goes through Korea. There are different types of bowels. Okay, and depending on on your relationship with a person there's a different kind of battle if it's if you meet someone and you're just meeting a man, it's just honoring the kind of y'all bow not like this, but you just a slight bow not a big deep thing. Just just to kind of get your head below the level of the other person shows honor in our society and when you shake hands you and you might shake hands like this, you know, if you were there, you know, you'd be here and your hand would basically grab their elbow and their hand with grab your elbow and forearm kind of To show honor to the person that you are meeting now. They're there are some of the old culture there that still anywhere they go they take a gift because it's honoring and I'll just take a small gift when you get when you go somewhere not in the oven doesn't have to be expensive you just whenever you go to into someones place you would you take them a gift and and when you hand them the gift you do it with two hands and they receive it with two hands and you don't like in many cultures. You don't show the soles of your shoes or the soles of your feet there many times. Most of the time your shoes are off before you even go into a building, but you wouldn't like we do in our culture stick your feet up on top of a desk and just relaxed. Yeah, that would be very dishonoring and so because you feed her dirty insects, you know, and so anyway, Julia watch it sometime. I got some of that wrong. She let me know. She does that to sew But that saw it so you only want to have a friend like her if you're going to travel somewhere that you can ask me. How do I show honor and what would be dishonoring in your country? Because you don't want to make a mistake and be a stupid American, you know traveling around now if I were having a guest come from another country and they talked to me and they and they asked me how would you know what it what I want to do in the United States. How do I show on or how do I not you and I thought for a while and I just kind of laughed myself I thought

I guess I wouldn't tell you anything cuz it really doesn't matter here

I mean I thought about that now this was just my perspective but you have to admit in our country we become a culture that is so much of a culture without honor just let me show you an example from Jesus time okay and then we'll we'll get we'll get back to this I Jesus was actually Limited in what he could do because in his hometown the people who should have honored him the most honored him the least

Just Mark chapter 6. Jesus is returning to his hometown not his birthplace. What is hometown? Play she grew up a year prior to this visit. He was he was actually. Run out of town you read back. It was run out of town his own people threaten to kill him. Saw it so he comes back after the store and in our world we would call it and maybe a teaching tour where he was teaching God's word is doing all sorts of Miracles and ate turn water into wine. He raised the dead. He open blind eyes. He healed deaf ears. He be multiplied Lowe's and Fishes to feed thousands. He even healed Peter's mother-in-law, which is many people say that's the reason Peter denied Christ. yeah that's that's supposed to be a joke okay but Peter didn't leave for that and then he came back to his hometown and he actually couldn't do as much because of a lack of Honor or lack of faith that's all Mark 6:1 the Bible the Bible says this is in Mark 6:1 it says that Jesus left there and went to his hometown accompanied by his disciples when the Sabbath game he began to teach in the synagogues and many who hurt him were amazed yeah imagine so where did this man get these things I ask hey what's what is this wisdom that has been given him that he even does miracles In other words. Wow, this guy is amazing. This guy is teaching is just powerful. His miracles are amazing. How can he do these things? And then in verse 3 is always one of these in a crowd and verse 3. Someone says in that the carpenter.

In this Mary's son. the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon Are his sister's here Willis? And it says they took offense at him.

Elegante that's just Joe. That's the ordinary guy from down the street. And don't you remember? You know, my Jesus I kid. You got mad at in class always got a hundred on his test. Yeah, and in this is same guy in this at Carpenter kid who made the table in your living room. Yaya didn't he the ordinary greiwe grew up around and west and then in inverse 4 it says this Jesus said to them only in his hometown among his relatives and it is on house is a prophet without honor

now there's a word there that is translated there to without honor it's at himmel's and it means to dishonor Just a treat is common or ordinary.

Let me tell you something. You want a common or an ordinary marriage? Let me tell you I can tell you how to get one. Really easily. I promise you if you want a common or Ordinary Mary's just dishonor your spouse. Treat them as common or ordinary. Why is it in the early years, you know, you're all in love, you know, and because you're continually showing honor. You open the door you bring presents. Here's some flowers and I love you, sweetie munchkin Rihanna, whatever and and and you're all over showing honor and over and over and over again and what happens married two girls get married to married girls and all of a sudden you start taking one another for granted your expectations take root and begin to Blossom and yet you begin instead of showing honor you treat each other as common and suddenly what was great becomes common because you failed to show honor and in so in doing so you dishonor

The Flip Side Of Dishonor there's another word there and it is Tim may now that it's spelled the same as I worked. I'm okay, but it's too May and it means to Value to respect to highly esteem. It means to to treat something as precious or weighty or or valuable. It means to ascribe Worth or to esteem to Value. Let me just give you an example. I was going to pull it out this morning and I I forgot matter fact I'm not sure if I could have found that I'm pretty sure I know where it is you ever do that with stuff you know and buy a Christmas present in advance and then yeah yeah give it to him in a couple years cuz we'll find it but anyway I I know where this is but I have a watch I wanted to bring It Shawty It's just it's incredible it's in a solid silver case okay to pocket watch and it opens up the whole watch will come out of the case because you can you can see all the gears and every are every year has inscriptions on it even a little bitty ones and it has a porcelain face and yet the wind it up it has a key Rewind your mind the watch up and I was told it belonged to one of the John Adams presidency. Is there on my grandma's side for my dad's family and the shot? I have a lot of watches someone throwing the trash they don't work anymore. But this one I treat different. Okay. I keep it locked away. I never treated like an ordinary watch. This one is valuable to me because of the Heritage that goes with it. I value that watch I would treat that this watch has a special never as common never as ordinary. What does honoring do honoring and steams honoring lifts up dishonoring D values dishonoring tears down to honor someone is to believe the best about them to dishonor. Someone is to believe the worst about them honor lifts dishonor tears down. I just give you another example years ago. I was working with this couple their marriage was in bad shape. And so I'm meeting with him and over and over and over again. This wife was she just dishonor her husband yet. I just right in front of him. I mean when we when we're meeting together just trash talking about him and and things in and I said, I think really Maham call her name, you know, one of the reasons you have a bad marriage is because you dishonor your husband. And she kind of pipe back into it while my husband was one tenth of the man that you already your wife. I'd show him honor. and I said maybe I'm the husband I am today because my wife has been showing me honor for all of these years and your husband isn't because you haven't

I thought it was pretty good point got pretty quiet in the room because honour lifts and encourages and builds. Mini you say well, I can't treat this person will honor because they're not honorable as something I really want to make sure one point. I really want to make sure that you get today as we go through. This respect is earned honor is given there's a difference between the two you can honor someone just because of their position or or who God has placed around you honor is freely given You may think well, I'll treat you with honor when your honor and when you act honorably, no, you know, you can treat with honor before a person is living honorably and the honor which you bestow upon them a lift them to a place where they actually live honorably. It empowers it encourages the reason our country my country. Maybe the way it is is because over and over we have been devaluing and dishonoring people that should be treated with honor.

Watch what the spirit of Dishonor does to Jesus the son of God check out what it does a prophet in his own town is without honor. Jesus said and inverse for an inverse 5. It says Jesus he talked about Jesus could not do any Miracles there except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them and he was amazed at their lack of faith. I don't know about you, but I've always read that verse and talk live pretty good. You laid hands on sick people and healing that's pretty good. But for Jesus I was a real Downer.

Okay, and he was amazed at their lack of faith and I'll check this out.

You have to read the Bible and read exactly what it says. Okay, it does not say Jesus would not.

The Bible says he could not. Do any Miracles except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them and he was amazed. Wow at their lack of faith.

I don't understand fully understand this. But there wasn't where there was a lack of faith. There was a lack of honor where there was a lack of honor and a lack of faith. Jesus could not do what he could do in other places where they believed in him and where they honored him.

Tragically we have become a culture that in many ways is without honor. So, who are we called to honor? Maybe that's a good question to ask here. I want to just highlight what the Bible teaches about a few different groups. And I I want to highlight what I would believe be the Bible tells us a lot of them, but I'm only going to bring up like three of them today. Okay, maybe the most what I think are the most important free for our context the Bible biblically asks us to honor and the first group if you're taking notes, there is the Bible is incredibly clear that we are to honor our parents.

Okay, I want to talk to me as a God. I mean it's there in the 10, isn't it? So, I mean right there in the 10, we're told honor your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

We are told to honor our mothers and fathers now tragically today. When you agree? We live in one of the most dishonouring. Cultures I've ever seen toward parents.

I watch a few TV sitcoms see who the idiots are. I just I I I mean It has to break the heart of God to see away and in our country a teenager can just mouth off to their parents totally dishonor them and I mean, I've heard it over and over again and it's wrong in ever since every since.

I mean, can I be just a little fashion for a little bit? I mean one when we had kids at home, if I ask a child to do something the only acceptable response was. Yes, Dad. Investor asked one of the kids to do something. The only respect acceptable response was yes mam.

Hey may be old-fashioned, but it's a way of showing honor. And we need to teach that two generations. Honor your father and your mother we shouldn't just do this when we're a little kids we need to do it when they're in our 20s and our 30s and are 40 in our 50s and you see when when we when we become parents and we give our parents grandchildren.

where to honor our parents by speaking well of them in front of our children Are you might say while y'all my mom and dad didn't live honorable lives. I know that's the case. You know for for many Dad ran off with another woman. Mom was a drunk or whatever. Let me just remind you again if I could respect is earned honor is given

We still honor our mom and dad because it's the right thing biblically to do out of a surrendered and submissive and a grateful heart. We show honor to our mothers and fathers.

It's different than respect. Okay.

The second group were taught to show honor to take a notes there. I work Amanda to show honor to those who are in authority. Those who God has placed in authority over us and in Romans 13 talks about honoring those in the governing authorities and section and verse 7 of Romans 13 tells us to give everyone what we owe them. Is it said it's kind of interesting because you can read over it so quickly because especially when they read taxes and I quit reading, you know, I don't like talking about honoring the IRS, but hey, you know, it's right there. So but then we skip over kind of the rest of it because we got upset at that part of it. It says if you owe someone respect give the person respect and if you owe them honor, what do you give them? honor Give everyone what you owe them. If you owe them respect and respected wider than honor just give you an example. I don't know how many of you I've been over the years. I've watched several. I always try to watch the State of the Union Address. There's some I didn't want to watch but I still want to watch TV. Haha, but I watched as many. They used to be when the president of the United States came down the center aisle. Everyone in the room stood to attention.

The president would enter the room all of a sudden everyone in the room would stand up and clap. And and and he how they some would cheer. And I would watch him. I didn't matter if it was the left side of the right side of the room. They would be standing and clapping and some cheering even on each side. It wasn't a moment of I'm a Republican or I'm a Democrat or I like the President Clinton or President Obama President Bush for President Trump. It wasn't I am a citizen of this country and there is the office of the leader of our country and You show honor. You could not not show honor you had to show on her that used to be a powerful thing.

You show honor to those who are in authority over you. Those of you who plays Sports you honor your coach, you honor your teachers if they instruct and educate you. You honor your boss. Maybe you say while I'm smarter than my boss, but you still show on to their position. I want to be the boss someday. Let me tell you something. If you ever going to be a good boss, you have to learn to be under before you can learn to be over.

We honor those in authority. I was fortunate to work for a company at one time. I saw mill company Millen County had more than sawmill. And the two boys that cuz I were going to take over that company. They were sent to our meals to work every job in those Mills before they could return to corporate headquarters in Portland and even work its corporate headquarters. They had the first start out as a janitor.

sweeping Sawdust

They learned. What what honor meant lady's you don't like your husband that maybe your husband is not a great leader honor him and treat him as an ordinary in common and you do not feel empowered to lead. You honor him and watch as he grows. Maybe he'll grow into that position of Honor. We show honor 3rd group if you're taking notes and I hope you'll take this seriously. I'm not doing this to build up myself or anything like that. It's just it's just the way of the Bible calls it and I see so much destruction because people don't understand this today. We're to honor our pastors and church leaders. We shall honor to those who are spiritually instructing and discipling us and it in 1st Timothy Chapter 5. It says that it's the elders who direct the Affairs of the church. Well are worth of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. They should wondering if I read that n****. Okay. Well, that's me. But but honor how could you show on writing about two dozen chocolate chip cookies? I got to get off at Junction steak with me back, but it's because of me or anything like that. It's just a Biblical mandate and that we honor those who lead us or spiritually in Authority. Let me give you a story here. Is that I've seen repeated over and over again, but I saw this up close and personal and it means a lot to me and it tears at my heart.

Church, I grew up in was growing like wildfire. Mean when I grow up it was one of those little churches. You don't want a little white box churches. That was young like three stories and the balcony around the sanctuary and then the sanctuary in the entry and then the classrooms in the parsonage in the bottom. You know that I used to build a my cat as a little bitty place. I would seek 60 if you pack them in and then I got around the balcony and the classrooms all are they cut out the walls in the classrooms 4 by 8 holes in the walls because there were too many people and so we can put people in the classrooms and then raise up the wall. So they have a for bay window to look through, you know, things things work and we're growing and my dad was a big leader in that community and following his death many people came to the Lord Anna and the church just kept growing and growing as they were building this brand new huge facility. I mean I was big.

so anyway, it's growing like wildfire going gangbusters and a new pastor came to town. He'd been converted over here and San Francisco from a life alcohol and drugs off the street. and

just I had credible life story and conversion of because of his former experiences. He had a real Ministry to addicts into the homeless. Also, his wife was a school teacher and in our little logging town which at its peak had like four thousand people in it there there just weren't jobs available. And so she got a job about 90 miles away teaching and of course the church people are upset that you aren't in town all week.

I didn't they didn't like that even though she knew they weren't paying or anything. They're paying her husband, but you know and so they complain and then this pastor the church where they built the church is on a 99 year lease from the railroad. I made a deal to swap some land and so they leased it for a dollar for 99 years from the railroad. And if you went back through the trail in the blackberries are you can go right to the railyard a lot of real tracks side-by-side. It was a big Junction coming down off the Cascades in the Willamette Pass. Yeah. And so this pastor with his heart used to go go down that that little distance at little pass from the church and he would go minister to the hobos and their bombs in the homeless in the attics who hung around in those cars as they were Park those rail cars and underneath them and around that rail yard. The fellowship hall of the church was about 6,000 square feet and was surrounded on the west and the north side's by classrooms. And yeah even is all they were growing really fast. It was a lot more room than they needed to use in that and so are there were bathrooms and showers downstairs. And so this pastor when someone would accept the Lord he would give clothes and work and food and housing at the church in the basement there in one of those extra classrooms. Well those logger types. They didn't like the fact that the people the pastor was bringing into the church smelled funny. And they were messing up the carpet in that Fellowship Hall in their pride and joy this brand new church and Iran. Is Pastor out of town.

You know.

There's a reason I'm getting to here. Ion watching what you're doing when the Bible says honor. Okay, and I go back to the life of David.

David said to his man now here Saul. Who is the leader of the country but God has said no more butts all hasn't given up. He's still in town. He still living in the parsonage. Okay?

Not Meow in in the Kingdom. And saw David as a chance cuz David Young God is already said David's the king. and so David has a chance to claim the throne the god already said was his and here's what David said to Saul

4 Samuel 24:10

You said that she or he said some urge me to kill you halfway through the worst. They're submerged me to kill you, but I spared you. I said I will not lift my hand against them my master because he's the Lord's anointed.

And then again in first Samuel 26:9 David said to his man now. Don't kill him who can remain innocent after attacking the Lord's anointed one.

That's the one I saw was, you know, he was totally sideways at this time.

That church at Old Mill Town church had a magnificent Sanctuary a huge balcony growing like wildfire and really having an impact on a little logging town where nearly 10% of the people in town were now attending that church.

It dwindled to fewer than 40 people.

I say with a heavy heart. They look so defeated on Sundays. So few people in that huge facility. They were like BB's in a barrel.

They forgot. The God had commanded them. to honor their leaders

one of the great things if I tell you what one of the great things about leading here. Is it you all yummy? You truly show honor. It doesn't mean that there aren't critics or people who disagree with me or whatever is A midsummer's you don't even like me but that's just a part of it. That's that's just what it is. But is a church. I never feel people trying to usurp power or authority. You guys are just your incredible. It's like saying you say you a Pastor Jim if you leave this will go you know what that does. That makes me say. Hawaii better seek God

Pastor Jen if you're calling us if this is where God's calling us to go will go with you. What does that do? It lifts. It values. It makes me take even more seriously the role that God has given me. when you show honor

Here's what I would encourage you to do. Here's an assignment. The Bible says so clearly so clearly just make this of your assignment Romans 12:10. We are to love one another.

with brotherly affection brotherly love says outdo one another in showing honor. Wow.

Outdo one another in showing honor when when you go to those who serve you every week in and around this church outdo them by showing honor today, you know, some of you may have kids with Deanna and I don't know who else might be helping Deanna back there with the children's Department giving up her service time that she could be in to spiritually impact your children when you see her bend over backwards show her honor for what she's doing and I need somebody a little gift card and find out their birthday and show honor to the ones who serve you over and over and over someone helps you carry your bread out from the from the fellowship hall you pick out some bread and they carry the bags out to your car. Maybe someday, they'll do that. It will be pouring down rain and they get soft and wet and they they put you in and they take you there you show honor to them. Those of you at at the church online and you're watching today. There are people here. Like I tell you what we were trying to change things a little bit Friday night, Connie and Richard were trying to help we working on a computer trying to get things going so that this what's on this screen up here will show in your TV's there at home on its own little TV deal in the side so you can read what's on the screen and I'll man things went sideways or working on that fortunately. We got things back to where it was and will continue to work on that because we want you to have a good experience at home. I want you to know that they're people like Connie and Richard and Randy Randy chono back there running the system that are are helping you have the experience that you have at home. Now you showed him honour. I mean find out how to get in touch with them or yeah I had and if you go to Sunday school class or prayer group or a Bible study and someone opens up their home or moderate or teaches week after week honor them. You want a great marriage? Let me tell you how to have a great marriage. You outdo each other you lift them up. You encourage them you highly esteem and show value you lift them up and watch as they grow into what you speak over them in faith. You highly esteem by showing honor and value? I do this for the moment. I just want to do something. This is really special to me. I want to honor a few people the first person I want to publicly honor. Is my best friend in the mother of my two children most godly woman?

And I just want to say to you Esther. I honor you.

can forever

Forever indebted to your faithfulness to your prayers and your friendship and support. All the private sacrifices that no one will know about except for us. Pain that you've endured and and the fact that you love Jesus and love his people more today than ever. I honor you for your friendship your godliness. your partnership best friend I've ever had.

I honor my wife and I thank God for her.

more than that I mean to say Greg and Jen. 40 years take care of this church property. 40 years. I just retired from that a week ago and my stuff going on here at the church. I mean they live across the street. Do you know who gets called to open up the church as soon during all hours or check on things or whatever? Yeah, yeah.

Hope we don't take too much advantage of that. You guys I know you do it for God. We honor you. Greg and Eric and Gary and Jim every Monday

I know you want to be the behind-the-scenes but I tell you what, I have more projects than these guys can figure out how to do. I mean they're they're lined up for forever, and they have made this just a much more comfortable place to come and worship and and to just look up proper you guys. Thank you. I honor you for what you do. Kim been playing the piano since you were a little kid for God for his glory Not For Your Glory and what a difference it makes to us. We notice when she's not here. Joakim thank you. And when are you Mark been teaching class Church board secretary, which means he's in charge if I'm not around.

Just always concerned with the Affairs of the church and giving of himself and his leadership capabilities to see that happen mark. Thank you. We honor you.

Tom Doug Susie you watching online Susie and I running this food pantry. I mean just just took it up and and took off running and I mean we can't catch up. And Tom and Doug, they go beyond that the bread and the furniture Ministry and those thing I mean. the heart of the church heart of the church on are you guys thank you thank you for what you do Connie and Desi is he the church Little Bear up here this morning now they're in transition they they provide to the decorating and things going on here and sometimes we just show that looks nice one who did that thank you thank you we honor you for that I want to say to the church board and a small church. So many times people serve a year after year after year, and we've had that. Church board. Thank you. We honor you. and then and I say Julia see this sometime. Those she's part of our church basically sponsored by us and by herself as a missionary to Korea. Since she was 8 years old. Called to do missions never taking her eyes off of that. And for what she's going through and what she's doing. Yeah, she's giving up a lot of things and for that, you know, we honor her.

How do you say again your Deanna stepping up taking over the Children's Ministries when Charles and CC left and and she's been trying to make sure that people have pockets to work with whether she's here and not that the teachers have things to do and I kind of thing. I just like what a great ministry. honor her and you know, sometimes people that we aren't even seen aren't even seen need honor. Only twice this year has Louise Hera been able to be in church? but everyday Everyday, she has pages and pages and pages of prayer requests that she prays through for you guys everyday.

I want to her for that.

But I know I'm probably missing some but I want to say also she's not here. But you know Becky Huber she keeps track of the finances and nobody wants to do that. And it takes a lot of time a lot of effort just honor her. Yeah for the banking and writing the checks and all that. She has a lot to do with our housing deal going on that's confusing. She keeps it straight on her for that you let but Above All Else. Even above my wife. I honor the king of kings. The Lord of lords the Son of God the Risen Christ the one who gave his life and touched my heart.

I honor him for changing me into a new creation for forgiving me for filling me with his holy spirit for empowering me to do things. I couldn't do on my own. I honor him for who he is. Why is it that we are a culture without honor? Why is it I'll tell you why if you're taking notes. I hope you writing this down the reason our culture. is dishonouring Is the people aren't honoring God?

Altru honor is born out of a heart surrendered to the King of Kings and the Lord of lords song 2223 says this you who fear the Lord Praise Him.

Oh, yes. He has reminded me Gail. It was been hard reader for. A Church secretary longer than I've been here. We are on our hurry. Yes. Psalm 22 23 says you who fear the Lord Praise Him all you descendants of Jacob honor him Revere him. All you descendants of Israel. The problem is we're treating God is common. So many times in the United States would come to a place where we just too familiar with God. He's too ordinary. He's the big guy upstairs. He's the big man. Jesus is my homeboy. I want you to know Jesus is not your homeboy.

Yeah, you was that dear 6lb 8oz baby Jesus, but Jesus is no longer a little baby in the manger. He is a soon coming returning ruling railing reigning king of kings and Lord of lords. And when he comes back, he's coming back with a sword. He is the righteous one who shed his blood that we would live and when we stop treating God as common ordinary and see him as who he is, then we will begin to honor others because his name is on our hearts. We are not, you are not common or ordinary because we're made valuable by his name. When we get that. We will return and reclaim the Forgotten good fruit of Honor. It's right. It's holy. Let me just give you a picture here of your baseball fan and any Baseball fans and he's a couple anyway, but you'll understand it. Anyway, Babe Ruth. Anybody know Babe Ruth. It's told that there were seven home-run bats that are autographed.

Babe Ruth signed seven home-run bats The first one was lost for decades. No one knew where it was and they finally found out where it was. They trace it back what happened years ago his agent gave it away at a home run contest. When some guy wanted and then he just kind of disappeared and they didn't know who he was or where it went. Okay free years and he kept that bat in his honored position on his deathbed. He had outlived everyone in his family. And so he gave his nurse this woman who had served him. He said you're the closest person. I know and I and I love you and I want to give you my most valuable possession while she didn't know anything about baseball and so glad she thought while he's giving it to me. It must be pretty special and so for the next 18 years she kept in the safe place under bed to honor this guy who she a nurse who gave it to her and when when she came on Hard Times financially she was trying to open up a restaurant a business. And so she's hot. I wonder if that thing is worth anything. And so she took it down to a sports card type of place, you know and said is in this worth anything and he he walked out and he when he brought some other experts in to take a look at this bat and they said you know, this is actually we think the very first of the seven autographed home-run bats that Babe Ruth autographed. So I went to auction in 2006 This Bat went to auction is over 1.3 million dollars. So she open up a restaurant.

And Anna with the rest of the money. She started the foundation to serve the children that Babe Ruth wanted to serve at the end of his life and no I don't under reporter. I asked her. She said Well, why'd you put all that money in that has Foundation to help others. She said the bat was only valuable because Babe Ruth name was on it.

So the only reasonable thing I could do was something that would honor his wife because he's the one who made the bat valuable.

You are valuable. Because Jesus name is on you.

You are valuable because of what he has done in your life. His name is on your heart. The only reasonable response we have is to do something with our lives that honors him.

Sadly enough. Here's what the Bible says that is true of so many today though. These people come near me with their mouth honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. we will not be a generation that gives God lip service but we will give him heart on her because he is truly the only one worthy of honor and praise and glory and when we realize who we are because of what he did and we will value others we will show honor to others because they were valuable enough for Jesus to give his life for them also and when we know who he is and we honor him then we will reclaim the Forgotten good fruit of Honor lift others up is steam value to them and this world will become more of what God intended it to be when we reclaim the Forgotten virtue of Honor

before I pray I just want to want to see if you want to you can sing along if you know the song I just wanted to play this song

Leonard Nimoy

Hey, man, let's pray to God. I asked him this a big ask I ask that you would do what I can't do Niger. Holy Spirit would plant this message deep within our hearts. Maybe got her some here today may have some listening online who are saying in their heart of hearts. I've been dishonoring maybe and I parents maybe my spouse maybe my boss spiritual leaders, whatever. Maybe not just blatantly dishonoring but maybe by default and God. I really haven't intentionally shown on her in today. Your spirit is convicted me. This is right. It is biblical. It is something that would truly honor you if I would honor others father, I want to be more honoring God help me to be more honoring life real God that you would give voice in action to this message that you would change our hearts to believe in it. Give us opportunity Lord. Give us eyes to see today those who we can show honor to God may we never be guilty of Good Intentions only, but when he follow it through write the note say the words give the gift reach out to publicly on her, but more than just publicly God even privately in our hearts may we have a posture of honor to those around us God we thank you in advance for all of the opportunities. You're going to give us as a church and individually to give on Where honor is due out of a reflection of true honor that we owe you the honorable king of kings and Lord of lords Lord help us live our lives that in a way that honors you. Oh Lord. We realize sadly today. There are so many people giving you lip service. Yeah, go to church. Yeah, I believe in him. Yeah, I did that thing. Yeah, I prayed the prayer but God, it's lip service. The hearts are far from you Lord, help us again to understand the action. You took that while you were we were still Sinners you came and shed your blood and died so we could be forgiven so I could be forgiven so that anyone who calls on your name would be made new all of our sins Cast Away and we'd be filled with your spirit Lord. The Lord. Is there those listening or hearing the same for today who recognize their life is not honoring you I pray that even now they would call on you ask you to invade their heart. And I know that you will you will transform you will make them a new crew. All the old will be gone and everything will become new. Oh God. That's my prayer right now that many would call on you and say transform me. I give you all my life. Forgive me my sins. I make you my Saviour. I make you my lord today. I honor you by giving you my life. Help me Lord to be honorable in the way. I treat others. Give me your spirit in this facet of light in the Name of Christ. I pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. God bless you.
