Psalm 19:1b The Firmament shows His handiwork. The word "firmament" means a vast expanse, or an extended surface. We would call it the ________, or the atmosphere above us. The firmament is the place that God ________ the stars. The firmament depicts the vastness of the skies, and thereby the ______________ of God. In the evening, that firmament is dark. It does not give off light of its own. When we see the stars in the sky, the sky is ___________ ______ God's handiwork. But during the daytime, the firmament is perfectly ________, and blue. The firmament, now in the daytime, was showing God's handiwork by holding the sun and the clouds. As wonderful as the firmament is in showing God's creation, it still pales in the way that God showed His _______ to us. Romans 5:8 tells us that God commendeth (showed or displayed) His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Just as God did not hide His creation, neither did He hide His ________ for us, and for mankind. The skies can be a good reminder to us that God loves us, and that He has shown His love to us.
