Psalm 46: 4 - 7
We Will Not Fear
In verses 4 - 7, David takes us to Jerusalem, the city of God. But interestingly, he refers to a ________ that shall make the city glad.
We are familiar with the geography of Jerusalem: it is built on a hill. And because it is on a hill, it had no river for a water supply. Its water had to be brought in from _________ the city walls.
Yet he says that Jerusalem has a river. It is symbolic of God, as the ____________ and sustainer of the Jewish people.
As we get to verse 6, we see how God __________. Though the heathen rage, God simply speaks, and the earth melts. All the plans of the enemy are gone, swept away with the voice of God.
Today, we serve this same God, and He cares for us as He cared for the Israelites. He is ready, willing, and ________ to give us the water we need.
We are God's people. He lives in our midst, even ________ us, by the Holy Spirit. But He has also said in Matthew 18:20 that where two or three are gathered in Hs name, He is there.
With each passing day, we see the heathen rage in their opposition to Christianity, and everything good. God will deal with them: He will speak, and that world will be ______ .
And David sums it up very nicely in verse 7: The Lord of hosts is with _____. God is _____ refuge. Let us call on, and rely on, the God who is with us, and who is our Refuge.
