1 Corinthians 6:12-20
12 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. 13 You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”[a] 17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.[b]
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

- Used them to celebrate the same son when he graduated from college. She has a big dinner at her house.
Intro - Anti-thesis (the world view)
These are contrary points that you will disprove
Talking Point 1
- people in the world don’t take human life is something that is valuable
- often times we abuse our bodies by what we eat the things we drink
- sometimes not much care goes into what we put into our bodies or where we go
- but today they know that God sees us as precious
- he sees our minds are souls and our bodies special
- and he desires that we not allow ourselves to be subjected to just anything or any situation he desires that we keep our bodies holy as a living sacrifice
-
Intro - Thesis
(connect back to scripture storyline)
Recap the scripture story – retell and give the overview
As Paul is dealing with the Corinthian church they have the belief that anything can go in their life as a Christian. They are living out their fullness as God intended. Paul also deals with the challenges of competing religions and cultural beliefs that are getting the church of track. This passage is about how Paul warns the Corinthian church to not allow themselves to fall into the Temptations of the world by defining their bodies. Their bodies are one with Christ and will be raised with the resurrection therefore they should make every effort to live holy.
Proposition
- What is the claim? (relevance for today)
The scripture wants us to do (what?) We should honor our physical bodies by offering them as a living sacrifice to the Lord.
The scripture wants us to do this by (how?) We shall do this by not connecting or becoming intimate with anything that is unholy or ungodly.
The scripture wants us to take action towards who/what/whereby (to who?) We shall do this by watching ourselves watching our life and being particular about what we say where we go and who we come in to contact with.
- What is the focus? (pull from your exegesis form)
The theme is related to: holiness and being set aside. We are special in God’s eyes. Being different from the world.
- What is the function?
The hearers will be change by the message because they were realize that they are valuable in the eyes of God.
As a result, they will choose their surroundings differently, choose their relationships differently, choose everything around them differently.
People don’t realize that: They are priceless to God and Jesus Christ does not want them to the defile their body.
They will have revelation ah, a-ha, moment about I am valuable priceless and I will not define myself for the world but I will honor my body and live for Christ.

1 thes 4
15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died.[b] 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died[c] will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.
Our bodies are precious, God will raise our bodies in the last day. We are precious in God’s sight.
