My Times Are In His Hand
“MY TIMES ARE IN HIS HAND”
ECCLESIASTES 9:1
(Amplified) – “For all this I took heart, exploring and examining it all, how the righteous (the upright, in right standing with God) and the wise and their works are in the hands of God. Whether it is to be love or hatred no man knows; all that is before them.”
(New International Reader’s Version) – “I thought about all of those things. I realized that those who are wise and do what is right are under God’s control. What they do is also under His control.”
PSALM 18:35
(NIV) – “You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.”
He takes our hands in His He lifts us up gently. He holds us up. He smoothes the path ahead. He keeps us from blundering off the path. Will we still stumble and lose our balance at times? Sure we will. But the Word assures us that if we are clinging to His hand, our stumbles will not result in devastating falls.
PSALM 37:23-24
Who among us has never stumbled or failed or trembled with fear? Everybody needs help!! Yes, I know how it feels to get dizzy; to lose my balance; to lurch and stumble; to reach out to God for help! And you don’t have to reach very far. Unless, of course, you feel God is a long way off. Only sin can make God’s hand feel distant.
What is sin? It’s not only lying, stealing…….
It’s me trying to meet my own needs; trying to walk without help; trying to satisfy my own soul. It’s me stubbornly refusing to let God, by His strong and mighty and gracious Hand, save me, keep me, and sustain me.
The Word teaches us that God’s hand can always reach us and, when it does, will either comfort or correct!
I. His hand corrects us when we’ve sinned and try to hide it. PSALM 32:1-5
II. His hand sustains us when we’re ready to quit and can’t go on. PSALM 63:8
III. His hand guides us when we’ve lost our way and need direction. PSALM 139:9-10
IV. His hand shapes us when we feel without purpose or value.
ISAIAH 64:8
When days seem darkest, I remind myself of God’s comforting hand. It’s amazing how much that tender touch can mean.
PROVERBS 3:5-6 SAYS: Trust in the Lord…… But in THE MESSAGE BIBLE it says: “Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.”
Why should I trust in God’s hand? Because of who He is!!
