Welcome and pray
To know Mrs Karen was to love her
Im not telling you anything you dont know
Because if your here you to loved her as well
I knew Mrs Karen from when she worked at Hair Affair in Conway
While my mom would get her hair cut she would always play around with me and my sister while we waited
I never knew our paths would cross again like they have
She was kind to me and my family
My daughter still says “Murry Christmas” as Aunt KK would say to everyone they went by on a mountain trip
I have also sat on her couch and prayed with her in some very difficult times
Today I want to share with you briefly one of the passages I shared with her when she asked why this or that was happening
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
This the passage that isnt as fun but it full of hope
Karen wasnt a stranger to trial but rarely did i hear her complain
But with each trial the faith is tested
Like a piece of steel as it is being forged- with every beat upon the metal it is become stronger and stronger
Doesnt mean the outer man doesnt break down or hurt
But the inner man- its getting stronger day by day
As she remained steadfast to Jesus her steadfast had its full effect
And just a couple days ago- her steadfast hope in Jesus lead to her perfection and completion
Beloved, I stand before you today and can boldly declare because of her hope in Jesus- she lacks nothing today
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Jesus did just as he promised for Karen
Not one hurt or pain was wasted in her life- Jesus worked everyone of them for her good in Christ so she would be lacking nothing today
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
Karen received Gods promise because she loved him
I would not be worth my salt if didnt ask you this question
“how about you”
I have never seen a time when the world was so broken of a place
It is so far from Gods design of perfection in the garden but thats what sin does
Seperated Adam and Eve and seperates us from God
In life we try to find something to make us happy, fill our God shaped whole
Relationships, money, jobs, stuff, but its a God shaped whole and only he can fill it
Romans 3:23- we all have sinned and falled short of the glory of God
But the great news is God didnt leave us with no hope or alone on an island
He sent his very own Son- to die in our place
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Would you repent and trust him today?
There isnt hope without Jesus
The verses of hope today from James are not for all people
They are for Gods people- saved and repentant today
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
We will meet again- whether Gods call us home or he so comes in glory
Their is hope in the hurt for the Lord will get us and we will forever be with him
