There Is One - Exodus 3:1-10 (7-8)

I remember my Pastor's wife - Sis. Carol Lorton, she used to sing every once in a while, the song by Rev. James Mackay. She had a distinct cry when she gets blessed, and I remember her getting blessed as she would sing…
Is there anyone can help us, one who understands our hearts, When the thorns of life have pierced them till they bleed; One who sympathizes with us, who in wondrous love imparts Just the very very blessing that we need? Is there anyone can help us, who can give the sinner peace, When his heart is burdened down with pain and woe; Who can speak the word of pardon that affords a sweet release, And whose blood can wash and make us white as snow? Is there anyone can help us, when the end is drawing near, Who will go thro' death's dark waters by our side; Who will light the way before us, and dispel all doubts and fears, And will bear our spirits safely o'er the tide?
And then after all the questions Bro. Mckay gives the answer -
Refrain: Yes, there's One, only One, The blessed, blessed Jesus, He's the One! When afflictions press the soul, When waves of trouble roll, And you need a friend to help you, He's the One.
I'm so glad this morning there is ONE. And I'm glad this morning that he knows right where we are, what we are facing, and how to help us.
Look at this text that I have read especially verses 7-8, I want us to notice four verbs that open up to us a little of the heart of God
I have seen - For over four hundred years the children of Israel had been in the land of Egypt and had been reduced to slaves and prisoners. They faced not only slavery, but all of the horrors that came with it. They were in a bad place. No doubt they felt forsaken, forgotten, alone, sad, fearful, depressed, helpless, But God meets Moses out on the backside of the desert, in a burning bush and says to himMoses I HAVE SEEN - I have certainly seen, or I have seen indeed - the affliction of my people in EgyptGod knew where they were, and what was happening to them. We have a God that knows right where we are I love that passage in Genesis "Thou GOD SEEST ME" -
I'm so thankful this morning we have this - we also know that God never changes, if God seen back then - he sees today. I have heard - It's so wonderful that God didn't just see, but HE HEARD. He heard their cry. He could hear when they went to bed at night so hungry they could hardly stand it but they didn't have enough to eat. He could hear when they were so tired they could hardly climb into bed at night from being so overworked. He could hear the weeping of the mourning families of those who had been killed or beaten and bruised by the evil taskmasters. I want you to know this morning He is hearing you this morning too he hears us when we cry out to him. Your prayers are not going unheard. He listens, he hears, he's keeping note of every prayer. And your prayers will be answeredThe Poet Wrote:
009 - Prayer Changes Things
Skies seemed dark to me one morning,
And my thoughts were tinged with gloom;
But my eye fell on a motto
That was hanging in the room.
Silvery letters on blue background,
Heavenly thought on shining wings,
Brought me hope in one brief message.
It was this, "Prayer Changes Things."
Things surround like iron mountains,
Things that make a thorny way,
Things that curtain clouds with doubting,
Things that make it hard to pray.
Dreadful things that never happen
Dog our steps, but faith still sings
In our ears this golden message,
"Don't forget: Prayer Changes Things."
We should be so very careful
Lest some things should change our prayers.
Pleasing things, like lotus perfumes,
Steal in on us unawares,
Till we loiter in a dreamland-
Slaves, but golden key to freedom;
It is this, Prayer Changes Things."
When we think that our surroundings
Keep us from the heavenly way
Or that wealth or change will help us
In some distant place or day,
Let's remember 'tis our Savior,
Not environment, that brings
Strength and blessings, peace and pleasure.
Here's the way, Prayer Changes Things."
(Author Unknown Quoted by Bro. Lewis Henry)
I know - Not only did God SEE & HEAR - GOD KNEW - He knows exactly what you are going through. God knows what it is to lose a Son. God knows what it is to hurt, God knows what it is to be in pain, to suffer, to be rejected - whatever we are going through GOD KNOWS about it. I am come - He will come. "I am come to Deliver" God says. And he can and will deliver you as well. Now deliverance doesn't always mean what we think it means. He delivered Peter from prison by an angel - but he delivered James to heaven by the sword. He brought his people out of Egypt with a high hand. and he will deliver you too.
Is there anyone can help us? One who understand our hearts? One who sees, hears and knows?
Yes there is ONE only ONE!!!
If you're like Jonah running from God - He knows and can send a big fish to swallow you up
If you're like David in some great trouble with Bathsheba He can send a Nathan along
If you're going through the fiery furnace look beside you, he'll be in there with you
If you're in financial problems he can send an Elisha along
If you're in the storm He's with you on the ship
if you're lost he's seeking you
If you're found he's keeping you
If you're sad, grieving, and depressed - Keep walking like the two on the Emmaus road - He will show himself
Is there anyone can help us one who understands our hearts when the thorns of life have pierced them till they bleed… Yes there's One ONLY ONE….
