BEYOND!
BEYOND!
30 Days of Prayer
The United Pentecostal Church International has chosen the theme “BEYOND,” as we soar to a destination of greater success!
Beyond is defined as: “over and above or greater than; more extensive or extreme; surpassing; exceeding; in excess of; having progressed or achieved more than; happening or continuing afterwards; at or to the further side of; apart from; or outside the physical limits or range of.”
As applicable,
let’s go forth beyond the ordinary to the... extraordinary!
Join with us in prayer and fasting,
believing that we, the Church,
Will go beyond all boundaries, and
Beyond Jordan,
Up towards our spiritual promise land
To claim every inheritance from our Almighty God!
WEEK ONE
WEEK ONE
Pray that we live a life of repentance and allow God to take away our stony heart and give us a heart of flesh.
Pray that we go beyond the quarries (rough rocky places) of this life and overcome any challenges or crises in our world.
26 But Ehud had escaped while they delayed, and passed beyond the stone images and escaped to Seirah.
WEEK TWO
WEEK TWO
Pray that we be obedient to God and fearless so that we can see His promises and go beyond Jordan.
Pray that we fulfill all the will of God and His divine purpose.
“I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan…”
(Deuteronomy 3:25)
Two Events:
Exodus 17:1-7 records the first occasion when Israel complained about a total lack of water.
Numbers 20:2-13 is the second of these similar events.
Both times the people:
Contended with Moses,
Asked “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt?”
Both times Moses is told to:
Take a rod and use it to bring water out of the rock.
Both places are called as result of the incident
Meribah = Contention (v13)
Numbers: An Introduction and Commentary ii. Meribah (20:2–13)
Very often narratives in the Pentatench appear pedantic and repetitious as they record the precise fulfilment of divine commands (cf. verses 25–26 with 27–28). But here there is a marked divergence between what was commanded and what was done.
Moses was instructed to:
take the rod
assemble the congragation, and
speak to the rock (v8)
Instead Moses:
took the rod
gathered the assembly, and then
spoke to them instead of the rock, and then
struck the rock (9-11)
Although this brought forth water, it was not produced in the divinely intended way, and counted as rebelling against God’s command.
Moses failure to carry out the Lord’s instructions precisely was as much an act of unbelief as the people’s failure to trust God’s promises, instead of the spies’ pessimistic reports (Num. 14:11)
Both were punished with exclusion from the land of promise. Because Aaron helped Moses (8,10), he received the same sentence (12).
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
Moses unbelief was that he:
Spoke with anger
33 Because they rebelled against His Spirit, So that he spoke rashly with his lips.
Struck the Rock (Christ was smitten once)
Crucify again.....
Did not hallow the Lord before the people.
25 I pray, let me cross over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, those pleasant mountains, and Lebanon.’
