THE DANGER OF MISSING CHURCH
John 20:24 (KJV) 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
Thomas, in Aramaic, is equivalent in meaning to the Greek name Didymus, or "twin." This apostle is mentioned in the synoptic Gospels with Matthew, and in Acts (Acts 1:13) with Philip. He is classed with the fishermen (John 21:2), and may therefore have been a Galilaean.
Several of our Lord's disciples are well known. Books could be, and have been, written about Peter, John, and Judas. But, of some of the rest, we seem to know very little. I want to look at what the Bible has to say about one of the lesser known of the Master's Men. I want to look at the life of the disciple named Thomas. The Bible doesn’t tell us where Thomas was. It was important, he wasn’t with the disciples when Jesus showed up. So he missed seeing Him the first time.
1. v. 19 — He missed the Presence of the Lord.
2. v. 19 — He missed the Power of the Lord.
3. v. 19 — He missed the Peace of the Lord.
4. v. 20 — He missed the Praises of the Lord.
5. v. 21 — He missed the Promotions of the Lord.
6. v. 22-23 — He missed the Provisions of the Lord.
Thomas missed a Jesus moment, time fellowship with the Lord. Anybody need Jesus moment.
Thomas chance to touch the savior. Sometimes we all need a touch from the Masters hand.
But Thomas got another chance. Thank God for another chance. We all got another chance on Calvary.
