What Will The New Year Bring? 2 Timothy 1:12
Friday, December 30, 2016
12:04 AM
Well here we are, the first day of 2017. A day and time that was forecasted and fictionalized in cheesy sci-fi movies in the 80's. But that was written to entertain, this is real life, what is going to happen? I know many are relieved with the results of the election, but many are not. Many are still worried, what is going to happen? We are told in the news media that the day after the inauguration or soon thereafter, all of the undocumented workers are going to be deported, that women are going to be treated like trash, that we will step back in time 40 years. That this country is going to die. Well I can't answer for any of those things, but I can say with all of the authority of the Bible, some things that are going to happen.
There is still going to be an abundance of grace - grace is more than just "unmerited favor of God" it is, "The outpouring of God’s love and mercy to undeserving, giving them the desire and power to do his will. "Paul reminds us in Romans that while sin abounds, grace much more abounds. I want you to just think a moment at how wicked this world is right now. And compare that with Romans 5:20 (KJV)
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
I think of abounding grace somewhat like the poor servant from years ago who was taken to the ocean for the first time and declared in wonder, "my there is an abundance of something" I don't know what you may face this year, what may come upon our nation or church, but I know whom I have believed in and I know he will never run out of Grace. Romans 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom. 5:21 KJV) I don't know what physical sickness you may face or watch others experience this coming year, but I do know what God has promised; You must know that this refers primarily to the spiritualDeuteronomy 33:25 (KJV) 25 Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be. Or as Isaiah put it, Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. I know there is turmoil and confusion all around us, but God promises to those who put their trust in Him PERFECT PEACE and a Love that casts out fear.Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed upon thee. because he trusteth in thee. Like Paul - I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED IN, and am persuaded that HE IS ABLE, to keep that which I've comitted to him against that day. We do not know what the future holds for us, but I know one who has already gone before, and he has promised to be there with us. I love that promise God gave to Moses;Ex 33:14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.He promises Joshua - As I was with Moses, so shall I be with youTo us he promises, more than just being with us, but in us and that according to Heb. 13:5 'For he hath said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."
What a comfort to know, that the more we don't know or can't see the future, we can see Him and trust him and Like Paul, I don't know a lot of things but I KNOW HIM, whom I have believed on, and am persuaded that HE IS ABLE, to keep that which I've committed unto him against that day.
