God is our Strength

God is our strength
Psalm 23:1-6 KJV
[1] The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
[2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
[3] He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
[4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
[5] Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
[6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
In a world that is falling farther and farther from God, a world where doing wrong and sinning is applauded, and doing right and living holy and preaching the truth is frowned upon or considered wrong. In a world applauding racism, violence, sexual immorality, drugs, and alcohol. All seems lost and too hard to live for God and to be Holy.
How do I trust Jesus in this world today?
2020 was a challenging year for many. People lost their jobs, their houses, their cars, their money, and some even lost their lives. Restaurants closed, small business closed, school closed down and even churches were closed. The political battle is getting worse and worse. Negative news all day long. It seems like there is no hope. We were expecting 2021 to be a better year but only a couples of weeks in and it still getting worse. How do I Trust in God in the middle of all of this? How do I keep the faith? How do I keep fighting till the end?
We can look at the life of David. He was just a shepherd boy taking care of his father sheep. Then he was anointed King of Israel, was hailed a hero for conquering Goliath, led numerous successful military campaigns, became head of military operations for Israel, married the king’s daughter – he had it all going for him. But he found himself running for his life from a jealous king. for more then 10 years hiding in caves, sleeping on the floor, no place to call home or to be safe in.
Verse 4 says Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil.
The meaning of a shadow is - a dark area or shape produced by a body or object coming between rays of light and a surface.
God is our light. Our problems, our situations or circumstances come between the light of God and us and we feel like we are alone in the shadow but David says even though I walk through the shadows of death I will fear no evil for thou are with me.
When David faced the lion, the bear, the giant He needed Gods strength to face those situations.
Thy rod and thy staff the comfort me.
Rod - can refer to a scepter that shows power and authority
Staff - is a stick that one leans on.
God’s rod reminds us of His authority over all dominions and powers.  It is used to help us stay on the path
Yet, his staff is also there for us to lean on, to rest, and to find peace
It dosent matter how bad situation gets, it’s dosent matter the storm or trial we are going thru how dark it may seem in the shadows of our situations God it there with us.
God’s rod reminds us of His authority over all dominions and powers.  It is used to help us stay on the path
Yet, his staff is also there for us to lean on, to rest, and to find peace and gives us comfort.
Psalm 23 Verse 5
If God is going to prepare a table for you in the presence of your enemies, where do you have to be? By your enemies.
