a. (See Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; Revelation 19:11-16; Revelation 20:11-15)
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He existed in the beginning with God.
3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.
11 Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war.
12 His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself.
13 He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.
14 The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses.
15 From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress.
16 On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.
11 And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide.
12 I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.
13 The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.
14 Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death.
15 And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
II- WE SERVE A LOVING GOD!
II- WE SERVE A LOVING GOD!
A- Our God cares about us in our present circumstances. (Revelation 1:4)
4 This letter is from John to the seven churches in the province of Asia. Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the sevenfold Spirit before his throne;
1- The Lord sent his message to speak to the believers where they were… in their world.
“to the seven churches in the province of Asia.”
2- He wanted them to be reminded of who they served.
“from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come”
a. To encourage them.
That they were not alone.
That no matter how powerful the political powers were, He is more powerful!
He knows and understands out circumstances!
Hebrews 4:14-16
14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.
15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.
16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
B- Our God demonstrated His love for us through giving His all. (Revelation 1:5)
5 and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us.
1- He declares His love for us!
“All glory to him who loves us”
2- He demonstrated his love for us.
“to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us.”
(Romans 5:8)
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
C- Our God’s love for us has promoted us to the highest position possible. (Revelation 1:6)
6 He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
1- He has taken lost, sinful humans and has transformed us into a kingdom of priests to God!
(Revelation 5:9-10)
9 And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10 And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.”
