The Availabilty of Salvation
Introduction: There is growing problem in our world and it stems from the idea that we no longer need God. This is not a new problem it is a problem that has existed since the dawn of time.
Men have always tried to find a way that they could bypass the Salvation of God through Jesus. Some people are willing to accept God but not his Son.
· The question we have to ask ourselves is why do people have a contempt for Gods way.
· Paul brings some of the great soteriological themes to their fullest development.
· Paul’s doctrine of soteriology was centered in the grace of God.
· It was God who initiated salvation purely out of His grace
· This satisfied His divine justice and brought release from sin’s bondage and a legal declaration of righteousness to the believer
1. Forgiveness. When God forgave us our trespasses, He did so out of His grace.
Colossians 2:13
13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.
2. Redemption: Paul employs the term to describe the believer’s release from bondage and enslavement to sin.
Galatians 3:13
13 But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
3. Propitiation: It indicates that Christ fully met and satisfied the demands of a righteous and holy God.
I John 2:2
2 He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
4. Justification: Justification is a legal act whereby God declares the believing sinner righteous on the basis of the blood of Christ
Galatians 3:24
24 Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.
