Introduction:  Sinners and Christian make the mistake of rejecting Christ, they make the mistake of doubting Christ, they make the mistake of not hearing the Gospel, and they make the mistake of not listening to the Man of God.

The prophet states that everyone will not receive the Good news.  There will be some people who will not believe this message.

Some people will join the church but they have not truly been converted.

To have a genuine conversion a person has to be willing to change.

·         Conversion is the turning of a sinner to God

Acts 15:3

3 The church sent the delegates to Jerusalem, and they stopped along the way in Phoenicia and Samaria to visit the believers. They told them—much to everyone’s joy—that the Gentiles, too, were being converted.

Sinners are said to be “converted” when they abandon heathenism and embrace the Christian faith.

In a more special sense men are converted when, by the influence of divine grace in their souls, their whole life is changed, old things pass away, and all things become new

Acts 26:18

18 to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’).

·         The conversion of the Philippian jailer

Acts 16:19-35

25 Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.

26 Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!

27 The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself.

28 But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!”

29 The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”

Romans 10:15-17

16 But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
