Kids love Birthdays
Do you know why kids love birthdays and adults don’t? Because kids love what they are becoming, and adults are afraid of what they are becoming.
What are you becoming?
As Christians
we are to be
LIKE CHRIST
What was he like?
Matthew 9:35–36 ESV
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
It’s clear
One priority.
Seek and Save
the Lost.
All other things
pale in comparison
singular goal!
If you are Christian
you are like Him!!!
Pacific Union Recorder April 10, 1902: How to Deal with the Erring

Those who accept the great salvation brought to them by Christ pledge themselves to be coworkers with Him, to work as He worked, to love those in ignorance and sin, even as He loved them.

Who is baptized?
You are a missionary.
You pledged yourself.
Your purpose.
Not money
(though need work)
Not Status
(though need home)
(need car)
Not Just Parent
(though kids need you)
Your purpose
is simple:

The Harvest

After disciples see
Jesus serve.
He is overwhelmed
thronged day and night
hardly sleeping.
Very next verse:
Matthew 9:37 ESV
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
He says,
I can’t do it all.
We need more workers!
What can we do?
Ever feel like that?
Job too big!
Jesus needed help.
What to do???
Next Verse:
Matthew 9:38 ESV
therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Talking to disciples.
Tells them:
“Pray for workers”
Harvest is urgent
Only lasts so long...
Matthew 20:1–7 ESV
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’
Harvest come rapidly
Not enough workers!
Jesus says, “Harvest Is Ripe”

Evangelism Doesn’t Work Here

Different Places
Evangelism always works.
Different approaches.
Back to main story
Jesus said:
Matthew 9:38 ESV
therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Pray for workers.
(Talking to Disciples)
To be “SENT OUT”
Very Next verse:
Matthew 10:1 ESV
And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.
Names them...
Matthew 10:5 ESV
These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans,
Sends them out!
Send them out.
Disciples,
pray for
more disciples.
God answered your prayer!
Here you are!
Get to work!

Sent Out

Not just Jesus
all do ministry.
All Christians
work as He worked.

That the burden may be distributed, an education must be given to the church by those who can instruct the workers to follow Christ, and to work as He worked.

Church’s Purpose.
True
worship God
encourage each other
raise young people
support each other
That comes short
all about us.
Greater Vision
Reach World
Seek and Save Lost!
This requires
organized efforts.

The Time and the Work Churches as Training Centers

In addition to our schools, the church must become the training center. From among its members capable workers must be developed.

Education Character Building

With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world! How soon might the end come—the end of suffering and sorrow and sin!
