Over this past week, since Bro. Ron’s passing, I have learned a lot about Bro. Ron which I would like to share with you this afternoon.
During a memorial service, such as this one, I like for the individual to speak for themselves.
Hebrews 11:4 KJV 1900
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

He already knew what he wanted on his headstone.

Seriously, though… this is a poem that I found among his things:
The Weaver
My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colors / He worketh steadily.
Oftimes he weaveth sorrow and I in foolish pride,
Forget that he seeth the upper, and I the under side.
Not till the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful in the Weaver’s skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.
Ron’s loom is now silent and God has allowed him to see the complete canvas that God, for these past 64 years, has been weaving.
Here is another poem which I found, which speaks to the love which Bro. Ron had for others:
Priorities
I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a by product of tribulations; it isn’t granted, it is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked God for all tings that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as God love me. God said…Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!
Something that most of you probably did not know about Bro. Ron...

He was interested in Biblical archeology.

Among his belongings, I found dozens of news articles about archeological discoveries which proved and supported the Bible:
Scientists confirm biblical account of water tunnel’s age
Could find be biblical David’s palace?
Carbon dating supports Bible story
Some experts say stone tablet genuine: Inscription resembles Bible passage about Solomon’s Temple
Discovery a link to biblical city
and others...
I saw an article, just this morning, that said:
“Eyewitness accounts … archeological evidence … and the testimony of the Holy Spirit – they all agree with one another. And taken together, they speak to the incredible truth of the Bible.”

Bro. Ron, as I’ll share in a moment, loved God’s Word but even more than that, He believed it was God’s Word - It was truth!

He loved others...

Read Amy Rowson card.
He loved his family. (Mention picture.)
He loved his pastor(s). (Mention picture and prayer list.)
Ron had been invited by Dr. Kirk, SCBC’s founding pastor, while going door to door and had attended some prior to Pastor Scott coming to SCBC. Pastor Scott visited Ron on Saturday, the day before Pastor Scott’s first Sunday, as pastor and he was faithful from that point on. After a few months Ron became Pastor Scott’s soul winning visitation partner for week nights and after visiting Ron went through months of discipleship with Pastor Scott.
Pastor Scott wanted me to let Ron’s family, and the church, know that Ron impacted for, God's Glory, his life and his entire family as much or more than anyone has.
He loved missions. (Mention missionary prayer list.)
There was also a card which had Romans 8:38-39 written on it:
Romans 8:38–39 KJV 1900
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ron has personally experienced those verses!
He loved others...

...And others loved him.

Read two notes from children.
Read note from his employer.

He loved God’s Word.

He loved to read God’s Word; (Show Bible)
He loved to study God’s Word; (Show Study Bible/Commentary which were on his steps)
He loved to hear God’s Word preached; (Show notebook with detailed sermon notes. The last entry in his notebook was from the last Sunday he was physically in church, 1/6/21.)
He loved to teach God’s Word (Read card from Bill and Dee Crawford)
Something else that I found among Ron’s things:
Century follows century-there It stands
Empires rise and fall and are forgotten-there It stands
Dynasty succeeds dynasty-there It stands
Kings are crowned and uncrowned-there It stands
Emperors decree its extermination-there It stands
Atheists rail against It-there It stands
Agnostics smile cynically-there It stands
Profane, prayer-less punsters caricature It-there It stands
Unbelief abandons It-there It stands
Higher critics deny Its claim to any inspiration-there It stands
The flames are kindled about It-there It stands
The tooth of time gnaws but makes no dent in It-there It stands
Infidels predict Its abandonment-there It stands
Modernism tries to explain It away-there It stands

He loved his church.

I have never met another individual who has been as faithful to his local church than Ron Faulk.
Ron has been at SCBC since 1989 - over 30 years! That is almost unheard of any more! It took him a few years to “join” SCBC. He was baptized and joined SCBC on January 24, 1993.

He loved souls.

Next to Ron’s bed were these books/documents dealing with soul-winning.
Which leads me to one of the last things which stood out to me as I was preparing for this service:

The Wordless Book
