How Firm A Foundation Author: George Keith (1787); R. Keen (c. 1787) 1 How firm a foundation ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in His excellent Word! What more can He say than to you He has said, to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled? 2 "Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed, for I am thy God, and will still give thee aid; I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand. 3 "When through the deep waters I call thee to go, the rivers of sorrow shall not overflow, for I will be with thee in trouble to bless, and sanctify to thee thy deepest distress. 4 "When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, my grace all-sufficient shall be thy supply; the flame shall not hurt thee; I only design thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine. 5 "The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose I will not, I will not desert to its foes; that soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never, no, never, no never forsake!" Praise To The Lord, The Almighty (Psalm 103/150) Author: Joachim Neander (1680); Translator: Catherine Winkworth (1863) 1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, The King of creation! O my soul, praise Him, For He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near Praise Him in glad adoration. 2 Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth, Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth! Hast thou not seen how thy desires e'er have been Granted in what He ordaineth? 3 Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee; Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee; Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, If with His love He befriend thee. 4 Praise to the Lord, who, when tempests their warfare are waging, Who, when the elements madly around thee are raging, Biddeth them cease, turneth their fury to peace, Whirlwinds and waters assuaging. 5 Praise to the Lord, who, when darkness of sins is abounding, Who, when the godless do triumph, all virtue confounding, Sheddeth His light, chaseth the horrors of night, Saints with His mercy surrounding. 6 Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him! All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him; Let the Amen sound from His people again, Gladly for aye we adore Him. The Christian's Hope Can Never Fail Words: Author unknown - words published in the Gadsby Hymnal, 1838 (Gospel Mag. 1799). Music: Benj Pocta, 2004. 1 We travel through a barren land, With dangers thick on every hand; But Jesus guides us through the vale; O, The Christian's hope can never fail. 2 Huge sorrows meet us as we go, And devils aim to overthrow; But vile infernals can't prevail; O, The Christian's hope shall never fail. 3 Sometimes we're tempted to despair, But Jesus makes us then His care; Though numerous foes our souls assail; O, The Christian's hope can never fail. 4 We trust upon the sacred word, The oath and promise of the Lord; And safely through each tempest sail; O, The Christian's hope can never fail. My Jesus I Love Thee Author: William R. Featherstone (1864) 1 My Jesus, I love thee, I know thou art mine; for thee all the follies of sin I resign; my gracious Redeemer, my Savior art thou; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now. 2 I love thee because thou hast first loved me and purchased my pardon on Calvary's tree; I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now. 3 I'll love thee in life, I will love thee in death, and praise thee as long as thou lendest me breath, and say when the deathdew lies cold on my brow: If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now. 4 In mansions of glory and endless delight, I'll ever adore thee in heaven so bright; I'll sing with the glittering crown on my brow: If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.
