D. By  Divine Works being attributed  to Him Divine works are attributed to the Holy Spirit, even as to the Father and the Son. These things attest to His deity. 1. The Holy Spirit was active in the creation of the worlds, as well as in the creation of beasts and man (Genesis 1:1-2; Job 26:1333:14; Psalm 104:30). Genesis 1:1-2 (GenevaBible) 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2  And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the waters. Job 26:13-14 (AMP) 13  By His breath the heavens are garnished; His hand pierced the [swiftly] fleeing serpent. 14  Yet these are but [a small part of His doings] the outskirts of His ways or the mere fringes of His force, the faintest whisper of His voice! Who dares contemplate or who can understand the thunders of His full, magnificent power?
garnished (past tense) · garnished (past participle)
decorate or embellish (something, especially food). "salad garnished with an orange slice" synonyms: decorate · adorn · trim · dress · ornament · embellish · enhance · grace · beautify · prettify · brighten up · set off · add the finishing touch to · jazz up
Job 33:14 (CJB) 14 God speaks once, even twice, and still the hearer misses the point. Psalm 104:30 (AMP) 30 When You send forth Your Spirit and give them breath, they are created, and You replenish the face of the ground. Notes For Verse 30 a [Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth] This refers to the normal annual renewal of the earth to sustain life. 2. The Holy Spirit was active in the inspiration of the sacred Scriptures (II Peter 1:21;  (II Timothy 3:16 ; II Samuel 23:2-3}. 2 Peter 1:21 (AMP) 21 For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so—it never came by human impulse], but men spoke from God who were borne along (moved and impelled) by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20 (PassionNTPsa) 20 You must understand this at the outset: Interpretation of scriptural prophecy requires the Holy Spirit, for it does not originate from someone’s own imagination. No true prophecy comes from human initiative but is inspired by the moving of the Holy Spirit upon those who spoke the message that came from God. 2 Timothy 3:15 (PassionNTPsa) 15 Remember what you were taught from your childhood from the Holy Scrolls which can impart to you wisdom to experience everlasting life through the faith of Jesus, the Anointed One! Every Scripture has been written by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you. 2 Timothy 3:15 (AMP) 15  And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus [through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness]. 2 Samuel 23:2 (AMP) 2  The Spirit of the Lord spoke in and by me, and His word was upon my tongue. 2 Samuel 23:2 (NLT) 2 “The Spirit of the LORD speaks through me; his words are upon my tongue. 3. The Holy Spirit is active in the regeneration of fallen man, in making man a new creation (John 3:3-5 ). John 3:3-5 (AMP) 3  Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God. 4  Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb again and be born? 5  Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a man is born of water and [even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God. John 3:3-5 (PassionNTPsa) 3 Jesus answered, “Nicodemus, listen to this eternal truth: Before a person can perceive God’s kingdom realm, they must first experience a rebirth.” 4 Nicodemus said, “Rebirth? How can a gray-headed man be reborn? It’s impossible for a man to go back into the womb a second time and be reborn!” 5 Jesus answered, “I speak an eternal truth: Unless you are born of water and Spirit-wind, you will never enter God’s kingdom realm. 4. The Holy Spirit is active in the resurrection of the body, which involves a creative act (Romans 8:11 ). Romans 8:10 (PassionNTPsa) 10 Now Christ lives his life in you! And even though your body may be dead because of the effects of sin, his life-giving Spirit imparts life to you because you are fully accepted by God. Yes, God raised Jesus to life! And since God’s Spirit of Resurrection lives in you, he will also raise your dying body to life by the same Spirit that breathes life into you! It should be evident from-the preceding paragraphs that the person of  the Holy Spirit is seen by Scripture as being God. All that the Scriptures reveal concerning the character and attributes of God can  be applied  to describe His person. He is the third  person of  the triune eternal Godhead,  and  as God  the Holy Spirit He is co-eternal, co-existent,  and co-equal with God the Father and God the Son. The Bible reveals one God existing in three persons, even the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, distinguishable but indivisible. B. The Work of the Spirit in Redemption 1.  The Spirit of God strove with man in  the days of  Noah (Genesis 6:3). Genesis 6:3 (AMP) 3 Then the Lord said, My Spirit shall not forever dwell and strive with man, for he also is flesh; but his days shall yet be 120 years. Notes For Verse 3 a [My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years] The 5th prophecy in Genesis (Gen. 6:3). Next, Gen. 6:7. It was fulfilled in Adam, and gave him 120 more years to live before being cut off. This was given when he was 810 years old, making Gen. 6:1-2 refer to the 810 years since Adam's creation, and Gen. 6:4 refer to the days after this to the flood. b [spirit] Hebrew: ruwach  roo'-akh. (HSN-<H7306>), wind, breath, life. Here it's the breath of life, or lives -- conscience, life (Gen. 45:27; Josh. 5:1; Judg. 15:19; Job 27:3; 32:8). c [strive] Hebrew: duwn  deen (HSN-<H1779>), to rule, judge. Translated "strive" only here. Elsewhere, "judge, judgment, contend, execute, and plead." Many versions translate it "remain in," i.e., My breath of life will not always remain in THE Adam. d [man] Hebrew: 'Adam (HSN-<H120>), with the definite article, the man Adam. The meaning is, "for that he (Adam) is also flesh (as all other men are): yet his (Adam's) days shall be an hundred and twenty years" (Gen. 6:3). If man is held to be in the plural, meaning all men in general and not Adam in particular, then who else is referred to by the word also? The fact is, the verse reveals that Adam had corrupted his way upon earth as all other flesh had done, and that God, in His mercy, gave him 120 more years in which to repent and conform his life to the will of his Creator. Whether Adam did this or not is not known. 2. The Spirit of God quickened Noah to preach the Word as a preacher of righteousness (I Peter 3:18-20 ). 1 Peter 3:18-20 (AMP) Trump 18  For Christ [the Messiah Himself] died for sins once for all, the Righteous for the unrighteous (the Just for the unjust, the Innocent for the guilty), that He might bring us to God. In His human body He was put to death, but He was made alive in the spirit, 19  In which He went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20  [The souls of those] who long before in the days of Noah had been disobedient, when God's patience waited during the building of the ark in which a few [people], actually eight in number, were saved through water. 1 Peter 3:18-19 (PassionNTPsa) 18 Christ suffered and died for sins once and for all—the innocent for the guilty—to bring you near to God by his body being put to death and by being raised to life by the Spirit. 19 He went in the spiritual realm and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison because of their disobedience of long ago. For during the time of Noah God patiently waited while the ark was being prepared, but only a few were brought safely through the floodwaters: a total of eight souls. Notes For Verse 18 a [Christ also hath once suffered for sins ...] Eight facts about Christ (1Pet. 3:18-22): 1. He suffered (1Pet. 3:18). 2. He was put to death (1Pet. 3:18). 3. He was resurrected by the Spirit (1Pet. 3:18). 4. He went to Sheol/Hades (Ps. 16:10; Acts 2:27). 5. He preached to angels while in Sheol/Hades (1Pet. 3:19; 2Pet. 2:4; Jude 1:6-7). 6. He ascended to heaven (1Pet. 3:22). 7. He sits on God's right hand (1Pet. 3:22; Eph. 1:20; Heb. 1:3; 8:1; 12:2). 8. He exalted above all others (1Pet. 3:22; Eph. 1:20-23; Php. 2:9-11; Col. 1:15-18). b [once suffered for sins] Three purposes of Christ's sufferings: 1. He suffered for sins (Gal. 1:4; Mt. 26:28; Eph. 1:14; 1Cor. 15:3; 1Pet. 2:24). 2. He suffered for the unjust (Rom. 5:6-8). 3. He suffered to bring us to God (Col. 1:20-22; 2:14-17; 2Cor. 5:14-21). c [death in the flesh] He died in the flesh, but did not die in the spirit, proving immortality of the spirit (Jas. 2:26; notes, 1Pet. 3:4). d [quickened by the Spirit] His dead body was resurrected by the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:11). 3. The nation of Israel often resisted the Spirit of God who spoke through the various prophets in their history (Acts 7:51-52). Acts 7:51 (PassionNTPsa) 51 “Why would you be so stubborn as to close your hearts and your ears to me? You are always opposing the Holy Spirit, just like your forefathers! Which prophet was not persecuted and murdered by your ancestors? Name just one! They killed them all—even the ones who prophesied long ago of the coming of the Righteous One! Now you follow in their steps and have become his betrayers and murderers. You have been given the law by the visitation of angels, but you have not obeyed it.” Acts 7:51-52 (AMP) 51  You stubborn and stiff-necked people, still heathen and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you are always actively resisting the Holy Spirit. As your forefathers [were], so you [are and so you do]! 52  Which of the prophets did your forefathers not persecute? And they slew those who proclaimed beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, Whom you now have betrayed and murdered— C. The Work of the Spirit in Inspiration In the writing of  the Scriptures, both Old and New Testament,  the Spirit moved upon the prophets giving them revelation, and inspiration, and causing them to write the sacred Scriptures. The Holy Spirit through the prophets foretold the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow in the Church by the power ofinspiration (II Peter 1:21; II Timothy 3:16; I Peter 1:11,12; Acts 28:25; II Samuel 23:2; Matthew 22:43Acts 1:16). 2 Peter 1:21 (AMP) 21  For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so—it never came by human impulse], but men spoke from God who were borne along (moved and impelled) by the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 3:16 (AMP) 16  Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action), 2 Timothy 3:15 (PassionNTPsa) 15 Remember what you were taught from your childhood from the Holy Scrolls which can impart to you wisdom to experience everlasting life through the faith of Jesus, the Anointed One! 1 Peter 1:10-12 (PassionNTPsa) 10 This salvation was the focus of the prophets who prophesied of this outpouring of grace that was destined for you. They made a careful search and investigation of the meaning of their God-given prophecies 11 as they probed into the mysteries of who would fulfill them and the time period when it would all take place. The Spirit of the Anointed One was in them and was pointing prophetically to the sufferings that Christ was destined to suffer and the glories that would be released afterward. 12 God revealed to the prophets that their ministry was not for their own benefit but for yours. And now, you have heard these things from the evangelists who preached the gospel to you through the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—the gospel containing wonderful mysteries that even the angels long to get a glimpse of. 1 Peter 1:14 (PassionNTPsa) 14 So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you. As God’s obedient children, never again shape your lives by the desires that you followed when you didn’t know better. Instead, shape your lives to become like the Holy One who called you. For Scripture says: “You are to be holy, because I am holy.” Matthew 22:43 (AMP) 43  He said to them, How is it then that David, under the influence of the [Holy] Spirit, calls Him Lord, saying,
