Freedom is Powerful
Freedom is Powerful
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Intro
Discuss freedom and how being free makes your relationship with God much better.
Message
DO i have a right to be free?
Paul is in a Roman prison chained to a guard and is writing an epistle to the Philippian church.
Freedom comes from my resolve.
How and why am i bound.
How do i get free.
Paul is in prison but not his heart is not in prison.
Paul is a free man in prison.
How do i get that Paul? how can I be a free man.
From looking at Paul I would say this is how you learn to be a free man.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
Three things to understand that freedom is powerful.
Paul’s instructions to the Philippians was to be anxious for nothing;
First you must have resolve in your relationship with God.
What God has premised me He is more then able to deliver. The promises of God are yea and amen. God promised that He will return for me and that's final.The word worry in the Greek is merimnao, meaning to be anxious, troubled, to take thought, or to fret for nothing.
In essence Paul is saying, stop all this negative thinking in your head.
Because worry weather God, is going to fulfill His promise is an insult to God. It opposes your prayer.
The word prayer is the Greek is proseuche means petition. Pros means to or towards. Proseuche means to petition, to, or to petition towards God.
If we worry it will stop our petition towards God.
Supplication, To make known. I have the freedom to make known to God my needs.
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Relationship
The Greek word for peace is eirene means a harmonious relationship with God.
I have the freedom to have a relationship with God that makes no sense. (surpass)
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Secondly the right thinking, this is how we keep our minds thinking right.
This is the work that we must do to prevent the enemy from manipulating us/me out of my freedom.
9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Freedom allows be to be a better talmidim student. A talmidim student wants to be like the teacher, that is to become what the teacher is. that meant that students were passionately devoted to their rabbi and noted everything he did and said.
Finally, be a student of your Shepherd. Learn and receive from your Pastor, listen and observe what he does. The scripture says when I do this the God of peace will be with me.
