The Family Kingdom Business (Luke 19:11-27)

God’s Strategy to Grow The Kingdom v.11-14

1. God came from heaven to receive His Kingdom and Return. v.12

NOTE: Jesus was born, lived, died and rose again to receive His Kingdom.

2. He calls those willing to build His Kingdom until He returns. v.13

NOTE: The Strategy of the Family Kingdom Business is that God invites people to invest in the Kingdom for its growth.

3. Those who don’t want God to reign over them don’t have to. V.14

NOTE: They actually sent a delegation to say get out. The future fulfillment of the band that came to arrest Jesus and Murder Him.

The Future of those who Follow God’s Strategy and Those who do not. V.15-27

1. When we invest with what God has given us to build His Kingdom the Future Return is Massive. V.16-19

a. 10 minas is about 3 months wages.

NOTE: The smallest amount of God’s resources can have major impact.

b. The earthly return in the parable is 1000% for the first example and 500% for the second.

NOTE: The impact of one individual using God’s resources to grow His kingdom has a massive effect because it is Him that is doing it.

1 Corinthians 3:6-8 “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. . .”

Mark 4:26-27 “. . . The Kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil; and he goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seed has sprouts and grows -how, he himself does not know.”

ILLUST: If I’m a parent God has given me the His word and other resources to invest in my children’s spiritual growth knowing God alone will save them and grow them. One thing a parent will never regret on their death bed is talking about Jesus with their children, praying in their room at night while they are asleep, crying out to God on my own bed for their surrender. YOU DON”T NEED MONEY OR RESOURCES JUST TIME AND INTENTIONALITY! HOW IMPORTANT IS IT THAT YOUR CHILDREN INHERIT THE FAMILY KINGDOM BUSINESS?

ILLUST: RightNow media will cost the church roughly $700 a year to give free access to everyone we can. God may give you some additional money this year or you believe that RightNow Media is really helping people grow and you say I want to pay for or help pay for that. If 10 people grew in their faith and maybe 5 trusted Christ through that ministry, what would that return be . . . .PRICELESS!

NOTE: The Resources God places in our control (prayer, money, mind, body) is to be used to invest in the growth of the Family Kingdom Business.

c. The Future growth however is more massive with 10 cities and 5 cities.

ILLUST: We have been lied to and deceived into thinking that this life is what we invest in and live for. Even as Christian we talk about eternal life but we invest our lives and live for this life. But their is a life eternal that is more real than all of this. Investing in His Kingdom profits in this life but it also brings massive prosperity in the life to come. When I say prosperity I mean as we invest what we have in building the Family Kingdom business we become a part of the greatest salvation project ever to exist and we will then live in conjunction with God ruling in this promised Eternal Life.

When we get a true taste of God using our investment to build His Family Business it truly energizes us for more. You can give to buildings all day but if lives aren’t being changed it just not worth it, you can pay and volunteer to build someone a new home and yet for those of us who know the Family Kingdom business, if people hearts aren’t drawn to Christ we aren’t real motivated to do that again.

ILLUST: So again look at how this principle of investing in God’s kingdom now builds His kingdom but also increases your reach and scope of life.

When you and I invest in othesr by sharing the gospel with them or building a relationship through the word in discipleship we now multiply God’s impact in their lives as well as who they share and live life with.

Acts 1:8 “ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

When we see our call to Build the Family Kingdom business with all God has given us, God energizes and makes us hungry for more. Building the Family Kingdom Business is the only thing that creates this kind of fire in our gut and return in this world and the one to come. When Lives are truly changed something happens!!!!!!

ILLUST: This is the whole reason God GIFTS people with abilities, to invest in the Family Kingdom Business. However you are not limited to nor are you tied to those talents alone. You are given gifts by the Holy Spirit to encourage others so you automatically are to serve on the CARE TEAM? What if you called you to save $100 dollars a week and then buy pizza for a teen bible study every week? What if He called you to speak truth in gentleness at work with a group of people talking about the afterlife?

TRANS: Those who say I want Jesus to be King of My life, I want to be a part of His Family Kingdom Business know that everything He has given us is to be used as He directs to build His Kingdom which means investing in the lives of others. NOTE: Which is why we need to invest wisely and with HIS WILL IN MIND.

2. If we are not investing in building God’s kingdom we reject His rule in our life and desire death instead of life. v.20-27

ILLUST: If you do not invest you lose what you have.

For the last several years I have been planting Garlic in late October. When I first started I had maybe 20 bulbs with 8 cloves to a buld which means I planted about 160 cloves. That summer I harvested enough to keep like 30 bulbs and planted 240. This year I plan to invest 50 of those bulbs which will give me 400 cloves to plant or 400 bulbs next year. But If I did not invest back and just consumed the garlic even what I had would be eventually gone.

Same hold true when we don’t use our gifts and the resources God has given us to build His kingdom, we don’t multiply God’s kingdom in others and when we are gone thats it. I think that’s what it means, “it will be taken from you”, meaning the natural result is you no longer have anything to give because God is not going to keep giving you resources to build your own kingdom.

ILLUST: If you don’t invest in Building God’s kingdom you may have an alright kingdom on earth but for all of eternity you will be separated from His presence living in death for all of eternity. You may not care about this but think about this. God has to observe this tragedy. Ever think about God’s heart to watch those He created to love Him who instead reject Him and live in death?

CLOSE: It is a crucial choice set before us. God has chosen to build His Kingdom by investing in People. He begins with saving those who are willing and then He calls us to invest our lives, our gifts that He gave us, the money and possessions He blesses us with, our time with other people in order to build His Kingdom. There is nothing with a greater return, their is nothing more satisfying and He invites us to be a part of this Family Kingdom Business for ETERNITY!
