Text: Luke 2:15–20 (NASB95)
15 When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. 17 When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

Behold, Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You.” 49 And He said to them, “Why is it that you were looking for Me? HOLD ONTO CHRIST THAT YOUR LIFE WOULD BE COMPOSED BY HIS LIFE
1. Learn All About Jesus So That You Don’t Miss Anything About Who He Is; The shepherds shared what had told them.
a. (vs.17-18) People were amazed: “Sense of astonishment; recognizing something out of the normal; that is a miracle or Jesus’ speaking in the temple and His understanding of scripture.”
b. Verse 19 starts with, “But” which indicates a contrast of Mary’s response to the response of others.
c. Mary’s response was not a reaction, but a purposeful action.
d. Steps:
i. Make a commitment to follow Jesus as Savior.
ii. Study the Bible about who Jesus is.
iii. Study the teachings of Jesus.
iv. Be obedient to the teachings of Jesus.
1. When they are pleasing to your life.
2. When they are a discomfort to your life.
v. Practice living the life of Christ.
vi. Let Christ life be the life you live.
e. Mary’s response was not a momentary reaction, but a constant awareness of His life.
f. Mary’s response was not an external reaction, but an internal commitment.
g. Study the life of Christ that your life might become like Christ.
2. Pull It All Together To See Him Fully: She pondered— she threw all the information together to understand what she held in her arms.
a. Examine each bit of information and weave it together to understand how it impacts your life.
b. Mary pulled all the information of Jesus to see the whole of who Jesus was.
c. The life of Christ is not a band aid application of God to your life, in which you apply His life only to the areas of life that you find no other resolve. The life of Christ is a complete healing of sin and the complete transformation of your life by the application of every aspect of life within your life.
d. The life of Christ is a covering that engulfs every bit of your being.
e. The life of Christ is the view kingdom life with God Almighty.
f. Organize your life according to the life of Christ.
3. Compose The Information Into A Life In Christ.
a. The word treasure means: to keep in view; to keep safe, to keep close.
b. Mary ‘treasured’ all these things. She kept them in view to keep them safe and close to her memory and life.
c. Mary saw the information as valuable to her relationship with her son Jesus. The information strengthened her love and commitment to Him. The information of Christ to the follower of Christ will see an increase in commitment of love for Jesus.
d. Mary saw the information as something to keep secure. She did not want to forget a single moment of her son Jesus. The information about her son kept him in full view of her heart. The information of Christ to the follower of Christ will keep secure the love for Christ.
e. Mary saw the information as threads composing a life wrapped around her son Jesus. She wanted to keep Jesus close to her heart. Each telling of His life was another musical note to a larger piece of music that kept her close to her son Jesus. The information of Christ to the follower of Christ hears each word of Christ as an additional not to the composition of their life in Christ.
f. Guide your heart with the love of Christ to live the life of Christ. Matthew 6:19–21 (NASB95)
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
