Tonight, we’re going to talk about eating...
[CONTEXT] John 6
Although Jesus talks about eating his flesh and drinking His blood, He’s talking about believing in Him. Just as we take food and water into our bodies, we take Jesus into our hearts when we believe in Him.
What does it mean to believe in something?
To trust that something is true.
We should trust that what the Bible says about Jesus is true!
We should believe in Jesus as we see Him in the Bible!

Let’s talk more about the word “believe” in John 6...
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”
Do we have to work hard or do good works to be saved by Jesus?
No! Jesus has done all the work for us, so all we have to do is believe! And Jesus says that our believing is the work of God! God give us the gift of believing in Jesus!
Has God given you that gift? Do you believe in Jesus?
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.
Is Jesus a big loaf of bread?
What’s your favorite thing to drink when you’re really thirsty?
Just like people get hungry and thirsty in their bodies people also get hungry and thirsty in their hearts. Only Jesus can satisfy those with hungry and thirsty hearts! And Jesus only satisfies those who believe in Him!
40 “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
47 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.
Eternal life is life in the happy presence of God forever.
Where do people spend eternal life? Heaven.
Where do people spend eternal death? Hell.
Why do people go to Hell? They don’t turn away from sin and believe in Jesus.
Why do people go to Heaven? They turn away from sin and believe in Jesus.
69 “We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.”
We all must decide what we believe about Jesus.
Some, like Peter, believed in Jesus.
Some other, however, did not.
36 “But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe.
64 “But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him.
What have you decided about Jesus?
Do you believe in Jesus?
Do you trust that what the Bible says about Jesus is true?
