2 Corinthians 12:7–10 KJV 1900
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Why Did These Things Have to Happen to Me?
THREE THINGS YOU CAN DO WHEN YOU HAVE TRAGEDIES, DEATHS AND DISAPPOINTMENTS
You can become bitter and accuse God and blame Him.
You can become pitiful and pity yourself.
You are not the only one suffering.
Other people had to suffer for the cause of Jesus Christ.
You can get adjusted to it. Accept it.
Romans 8:28 KJV 1900
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
SOME REASONS THESE THINGS BEFALL THE BEST PEOPLE:
THAT THE GLORY OF GOD MIGHT BE MADE MANIFEST
In John 9, a man was blind from birth. They asked who had sinned that the man was blind. Jesus said that it was not caused by sin, but that the glory of God might be manifest. Job suffered that God could turn Satan loose and His glory could be made manifest. Somebody is looking for God's glory, and they might see it in your suffering.
THAT YOU MIGHT HELP SOME WEAKER BROTHER
Somebody might have the same experience, and if God has seen you through it, you can tell them.
1 Thessalonians 1:7 KJV 1900
So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
TO SHOW YOU THAT THE GRACE OF GOD IS SUFFICIENT FOR EVERY NEED
God gave Paul grace to bear his cross and take care of the throne. The grace of God comes to help you. You would never know of God's tender care without your suffering.
THAT YOU MIGHT ENTER INTO THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERING
We need to feel a little of Christ's suffering. Phil. 3:10 "That I may know him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made unto his death."
BECAUSE GOD HAS TO CHASTEN HIS PRECIOUS BELIEVERS
The Bible says, "For whom the Lord loveth, He also chasteneth".
Many times God has to whip us and get us in the place where we can be usable for Him.
