Waze or Google Maps
— Pull out phone —
2. Prayer (Walkie - Talkies)
Proposition: When we pray we should talk to God honestly
do not focus on the words or the person — it can be awkaward just like when you meet anybody but when you get to know a person you can start to tell them anything!
Take one child and send them to FOYER with one walkie talkie

FASTING ILLUSTRATION:
How many of you, if you were seated on a crowded bus, as saw an elderly woman,
maybe 70-80years old — and she was standing with her legs shaking because she had weak legs but needed to get home —
how many of you would give up your seat for her??
Why???
Feel sorry - you care - want to be helpful
Fasting Defined —
Fasting Defined —
A practice of staying away from food and/or drink for a predetermined period
Why Do people fast?
Wrong Reasons:
Biblical Reasons:
Does Fasting always have to do with food? what else can we fast?
Examples:
Video games
Different foods
Entertainment
Candy
Ice Cream
Man will not live by BREAD ALONE (v. 4)
Man will not live by BREAD ALONE (v. 4)
Name your favorite food that you could eat a ton of!
Pizza
Pasta
Teri and so on
CAn you remember a time that you were so full that you felt yucky?
Or got something you wanted and now you want something new?
What happened?
Those things are worldly and the devil uses those things to keep us from real pleasure!
1 JN 2:15-17
Psalm 16:11
Jesus is saying, God is greater than bread, pasta, video games
That is why we need to fast sometimes
to remind ourselves of what is important!
See our weakness for a hunger of God is not because he is unsatifying, but we are filled too much with other things — bread video games and so on
Proposition: We fast to help us focus on God and the things of heaven —
if we do not do this we will always be unhappy — wanting the next toy, a new friend, acceptance and
when you do not get it you will be sad
and if you do get it you will realize that it still leaves you empty
